  • K-Stater here: 1st post as a temp guest. CONGRATULATIONS to the Shockers!!!

I signed up to post just as a temp guest during the tourney. Since the Cats lost last week I was needing a new team to route for. My wife and I watched the WSU game Sat and were yelling and cheering at home. I'm a die hard Cat but grew up following the Shox from Hutch. I still have some programs from the Stallworth, Bowman era. You guys should be super proud and happy for what your team has done. There seem to be some KSU fans that find it weird and odd for a KSU fan to cheer for WSU. I really believe those are a very small minority. In my office today in Manhattan there were four seperate people that commented they were enjoying WSU's run...and they are all Cat fans. So, please ignore the few knuckleheads that can't be happy for you. They are jealous our team didn't advance. I will also say I cannot cheer for KU. I hope they lose ASAP and preferably in a painful embarrassing way. Sorry but that's how I feel. Maybe that makes me a bad person. I hope Marshall stays there and continues to build that program. I would also like to see WSU find a better conf to join. You are set up to get to the Elite 8 and beyond. You guys are fun to watch. lastly, I really wish KU, KSU and WSU played a round robin yearly. Would be fun and great for BB interest in Ks. Go Shox!!!

Welcome, I am a fan of K-State as well as WSU. People that root for another Kansas team don't always seem to be well liked on these boards, but I was very disappointed by how you guys played against LaSalle on Friday. It could easily be WSU-KSU in the Sweet Sixteen and that would have been a game to see. I hope Marshall stays here too, there is talk that he will, but now that we have gotten out of the dogdays of Randy Smithson and Scott Thompson coached teams, I have to wonder if any coach that comes here won't use it as a stepping stone for a better job. Although with the parity in college basketball these days, I don't think its necessary to coach at a power 6 conference to win a national title (I absolutely hate the mid-major term, I usually consider us just a non-BCS school). As far as conference, I would love to see the Shocks join the Big 12, but I have serious doubts that will ever happen, especially as long as we don't have football.

Welcome and thanks for the support. I, too, hope KU loses...but only to Wichita State in the National Championship game.

I have a niece who is a KU grad married to a KSU grad. Her parents and all of her aunts and uncles are WSU alum. Their 2 year old son wore his Shocker shirt last year when we punked Creighton in Omaha and had it on again on Saturday night during the Gonzaga game.

Just goes to show you that fans can live under the same roof. Too bad the teams can't play under the same roof... GO SHOX!!!

You sound like the average Shocker fan/student/alum in this regard.

Funny how nearly every opposing fanbase to KU's has this take.

Thank you for signing up and admitting you are a KSU fan first. That seems like such an obvious thing to do, but recently we have had our fill of KSU fans pretending to be Shox fans. But then they slight WSU at any glimpse of adversity, then have to make a subtle comment about how good KSU is at X, or how well they did against Y. If people would just be honest like yourself and the few Creighton/ISU/MSU regulars it would go over so much better.

You guys had a solid a season. I hope your fan base gives Weber a little more respect than they did initially. I think he's a decent coach.

There seem to be a lot more KU fans cheering for WSU on the phog than the K-State board. My friends in Lawrence said it was a pretty loud pro-WSU crowd in the various gathering spots.

I was really hoping for a WSU vs KSU matchup. Ironic that K-State will meet Gonzaga at Intrust next year.

Take away the various negative posts, and you'll see pretty good support from both schools.
