Why does the NCAA pit two 11 seeds against each other as part of the last 4 in? Last 4 in not from a BCS conference?

Had Tennessee or Kentucky actually made the tourney, they would be in those play-in games.

I have a vague recollection of it being part of the agreement of going from 65 to 68 teams. Effectively that when the auto bids were added, it was agreed that the smallest conferences wouldn't bear the brunt of all of the additional play in games - otherwise they didn't have the votes to pass the expansion.

That is a VERY vague recollection though, so I could be wrong.

Kentucky bounced from NIT by Robert Morris. Further evidence as to why the big boys won't schedule the mids on the road.

So THAT's how Creighton keeps winning the MVC tournament.
