DWill is a good player, but is not the player to take over any huge load for a team. He is quick and a good defender, but was playing dinged up, and would have been a great change of pace sub for Baker or Wessel this year.

He has had some of the most spectacular plays Ive seen over his 4 years.

I was referring more to a couple of awful passes to the post that were way off the mark. He wasn't the only culprit, though.

or his driving into the paint only to throw up a wild shot with 3 guys in a face

I can count at least 2 or 3 this year and a couple last year when he went 2-8, 2-9, 2-10 from the field, the inside players did not score and we lost.
I have a hard time placing the selfish label on Demetric. Last year he brought it on defense every game and he knew that he wasn't going to score. He was one of the most unselfish guys on the team. He takes a lot of bad shots but I chalk that up to his maddening confidence. He probably believes that the best way to help the team win is to drive past three guys and hit a reverse layup.

Carl is a huge advantage in the paint. Even if he gets the ball and gets double teamed, he can go back outside with a pass and set up an easy, wide open 3. The guards simply don't get it. And now we might be realizing a few of them don't do it because they suck at passing. Get him the ball, but don't force it if it's not there. Some of those passes were just YMCA-dumb. There were times when Carl had great post positioning and D-Will or MA would ignore him. Then they'd try to force a pass over the top into a double-team. That's terrible.

I also like D-Will, but he tends to get selfish at times. I hate using that word but there were some plays he made last night that defined the word.

When D-Will has a bad game, it's a brutal game. Frustrating for a senior who has won more games than anyone else in WSU history.

In basketball, players don't win or lose games, teams do. DWill has contributed much to both sides of the coin and its been both amazing and frustrating to watch him.

It's just a shame that the seniors last game (hopefully) at Koch Arena was a loss.

I agree w/you Feve ... been sayin this all year & it amazes me how Carl does not get more shot attempts up nite in, nite out. for ppl who dont know, the Valley is SHORT and pretty weak downlow this year. Carl & Co. downlow should be having a field day.

Baker and Evan are both excellent post feeders and we miss them badly.

My boss was able to go to this game. He is a KU grad and we go round and round at times about both programs, but that's another story. He made an interesting comment about how strong post players can't catch the lobs when they are being held, tripped and pushed in the paint and the refs are allowing the smaller sized defensive players to get away with it. He said that it punishes the stronger/taller post player so one team doesn't have an advantage over the other team in regards to height or playing ability.

                          1. Basketball IQ.
                          2. Everything else.

I swear I played in better games at the Y at noon time.

I completely agree with that assessment but our team's lack of great lob passing, deciphering when to lob or change passing angles (by passing or dribbling) and then try the lob, and that we settle on the perimeter waaay too much is just beyond me ... because I've seen our guys prove they have court vision(bball IQ), i guess its just spotty at best.

My favorite lob in the game was the 35' lob. I believe Cotton lofted that rainbow.

Demetric had a spectacular play in the first half against Detroit. It was at the north end. It was a driving lay-up. It was a maximum athletic play. I gave him a 10.0.
