......we stopped doing what got us the lead which was pressuring and trapping out at the half court line. After EUs first time out we let Ryan catch and drive all the way to the rim and draw a foul. The next time down they had a comfortable possession and got the ball to their big oaf.

Why did we back off? They are not a good ball handling team when taken out of their offense.

It was obvious that was the only way we were going to score-yet we stopped. Please tell me why?

Colt McCoy is the dirtiest player in the league, but, he can get himself open for a shot. That's something our shooters, #11 and #15 can't do on an empty court. 11 has become a problem for this team, which started after he scored 39 points and promoted himself, imho, to All American status. He argues every criticism from coach, he is a worse defender than 15 and he doesn't have as much hustle in his entire body as 5 and 32 have in their little fingers. Did I mention 21 is terrible? We've got great guards and Carl Hall. Otherwise, it's interesting we've done as well as we have with the rest of this cast.

No doubt McCoy's years in the NFL have contributed to his dirty play in the MVC. It's hard to make that transition.

Seriously, #11 and #15 have been inconsistent, but they're Juco transfers (not 4 year starters in D1 ball like McCoy) with huge potential that they haven't fully realized. That's a ridiculous comparison.

#21 is a defensive juggernaut that changes opponents shots when he's not swatting balls out of the air like flies around a cow patty in the hot Texas sun.

Answer: Lots. I will say it again. He and so many other players like him in the Valley (weak and mostly nonathletic) cheat to compete. They can't get away with it against BCS teams, but they do against us because we are the lone wolf trying to build a team to compete nationally.

It drives me nuts when we load a team with athletic, ball hawking players and we let the other team control the tempo. We are content to grind it out. Freakin nuts. We unleashed our traps and tempo changers one time this year for most of the game and that was against Bradley at home. Is it a fear of getting into foul trouble with the garbage refs we sometimes get?

Yep. Couldnt agree more. But we should be able to figure out a way to run a team like Evansville onto their rims.

Doc, I agree but we know Pony boy does that, we've scouted him for four years. When he lowers his shoulder, we either chest bump the **** out of him or flop and let our coaches work the refs. We did neither. All we did was move backward and let him create space. That's on us.

Even so, why aren't double teaming Balentine or the goofy little white guard hard when they get the ball the last eight minutes?

We know what these POS teams do and we let them....

You'll get no argument from me @ShockerPrez:. I believe in the final 14 minutes of the game we made 1 field goal that wasn't a dunk. Simply stated, that's not good enough to win a Division 1 game. This is on all of us.

lost because our guards don't play hard or smart ( both ends ) unless we are behind and when
we do catch up they relax. i think that has been the theme in our losses
