  • Shocker fans far and near love their team, win or lose

Some of you may be in this story...
"If you're going to do it, you're going to do it right," athletic director Jim Schaus said. "If we're going to put 'Wichita State' across our chest, then every team is going to matter."

If they don't post, they should.

The guy from Oklahoma posted on another thread. Not sure about the guy in Wimberley. There's a pretty big group of us here in Houston though - my flag hangs all season.

My flag flies proudly in Baton Rouge now. And we get little to no flack. As a matter of fact I was at the LSU baseball hame wearing my Shocker hat and had several fans stop me a they recognized the W and wanted to inquire what happened to our program.

Lots of wide spread respect and recognition beyond Basketball.

There are going to be a more folks relegated to the "away team" once Boeing locks the doors and sends everyone to OKC or other places. There are quite a few long-time Shocker fans being up-rooted.

Good point, wonder how many Shocker Fans in other cities are displaced Pizza Hut and Coleman workers? Or how many Shocker fans we have in Seattle?

We are getting lots of positive pub. It is now common knowlege that our beloved Shocks are winning our fair share of games, are road warriors, and winning aginst us here is like pulling hens teeth. Our fan base attend our games in the groves and get loud and crazy. What does this all do? It should help our recruiting and more but more big Schools will shudder before want to set up a series with us? Dunno, maybe for their strength of schedule sake, they will want to play us all the more now? With that said, we have an awesome Coach in 3G who is winning here at unpresidented fashion. Our Valley foes are gunching like never before which makes us happy. GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

At our Exhibition game this Season, Coach Marshall spoke of us returning to the Dance. He already knew Cle was special and that this team could take the baton in reload fashion, and make the Shocker beat go thumpa boom like a base drum. He also made mention recently that this team has not reached their best potential yet and can improve.

The Detroit win really was a fun win for we the passionate fans against a talented team that just beat Valpo there and was on a torrid hot streak. When our Shocker play hoops like today, a nice end game of the 2012-2013 script is not only what we long for, but also within our reach. This is already a Season to remember that we will point to here on SN in the future for sure. Now let's get busy with the tasks at hand, one win at a time.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

A guy I used to fly with (a Naval Academy guy) lives in Houston and he is one of our fans. E mails me to let me know when he can catch a game on the tube.

More than 1 displaced fan in Arizona, and they are missed.

Quite a few along the Front Range. We had a very impressive showing at the AFA game back in December, together with you unbelievably passionate folks who made the long drive out.

Our kids grow up attending Shocker games and now watch when they can on TV from their far away outposts. This season's good schedule of ESPN network games plus ESPN3 helps them keep up. I was getting texts from all over the country during the game Sat. as friends and family got to watch the Maserati speed down the road!!
