Oh lord nothing screams little brother like going to mommy and daddy and making big brother do something.

Seriously why do you people care so much about playing KU? If they want to play great if not whatever. I couldn't care any less what KU does or doesn't do.

I don't think this is the way I'd like to get KU to play us. I wouldn't be upset if this happens, but I'd prefer just improving to the point that they schedule us.

I'm glad he turned over a new leaf cause the old Bill Self sounded like he wanted nothing to so with the game.

I'm not entirely sold on that being possible. No matter how good and/or consistent we are, I don't see them playing us anywhere. I'm not even sure they'd play KSU if they weren't forced to because they share a conference with them.

They are however talking about a bill that would protect 2nd amendment rights and supercede federal law when it comes to guns and ammo and such. HB 2199 is the bill.

It is odd that KSU is not a part of the proposed bill.

I suppose the opposition will be less, if only WSU and KU are named in the bill.

No team should be "forced' to play another. I don't care if we play KU or K State. It makes absolutely no difference to me whatsoever. I just want us to get back on track and start playing the kind of basketball that we know we can. So Marshall (who himself said it was his job to get the team back in the proper frame of mind) and the team need to get their respective acts together. The players need to pay more attention to what they do ON the court than what their ranking (or lack thereof) is OFF the court.

KSU not being included made this look weird to me as well. Especially if they are threatening to take away school funding if they don't play. How can you include 2 of the 3 with something as important as funding on the line?
Is it strictly because KSU already has to play KU?

The minute I heard about this on the news, I thought it was a publicity stunt. The Legislature is going to do NOTHING about this (and probably shouldn't). This thread is as dead as the bill in front of the Legislature.

I think this whole thing is hilarious and I hope it passes! Every Shocker fan should be for this because it can only help our program. It would give us one solid game every year that HCGM doesn't have to schedule.

                              Big brother... blah blah blah

We don't need 'em... blah blah blah

Check yourself Shocker fans. You know damn well that this would only be a positive for Shocker basketball.

I'm certainly not for legislating what can be corrected in the free market. However, KU used legislative powers in the past to give themselves an unfair advantage against WSU, it only makes sense that it would take legislative action to balance things back out.

It's a simple concept; if you take welfare from the state, you do what the state asks of you to make sure each and every one of the universities supported is as successful as possible. In this instance, both WSU and KU receive welfare from the state of Kansas. Both WSU and KU should play each other in any athletic events that will help to strengthen the weaker school - WSU. If WSU restarts football, the same thing goes. If KSU receives welfare from the state of Kansas (and it does), it should be required to schedule the weaker school - WSU.

If you are totally self-supported (private) and receive no funding from the state, you can do whatever the hell you want.

KU is a parasite and a predator all at the same time. I see nothing wrong with a bill that forces them to be more symbiotic with the other major Kansas basketball power - WSU.
