  • Unleash the hounds!

I'm not a D-1 coach. I only do it Monday night, Thursday night and Saturday afternoon. Just wondering if we can actually try to run some plays for Nick Wiggins. Can we actually make a real effort at getting the ball to Hall and Early on the block when they have their man sealed off for what seems like an eternity?

    I'll hang up and listen.

I think Marshall should have called more timeouts.

Maybe during each of those extra timeouts being burned up, he could explain how passing the ball into the post has been a successfull basketball strategy for about 100 years. Then if you want to get all fancy, you can kick it back out to a guard for a three ball, or go nuts and throw it back into the post. It worked pretty well for Paul Miller and Sean Ogirri back in the day.

I think we should run more sets and less of the continuity ball screen offense. Run a set, if you don't have anything then you can screen and post drive. But try to get a look at a shot that you WANT everytime down the floor.

This team is not good enough offensively to run continuity offense and expect to score a lot.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

I hope you're watching Michigan/Indiana. The #1 team in the country's coach was getting owned by Indiana in the first half on the wrong end of a huge run. He called a time out down 14. His team rallied to get to within 3 at the half. They tied it in the second half, before IU went on another run, down 10. MU called another time out. They currently trail by 6. Who knows the outcome and it doesn't even matter, that is how it's done son. To even have a chance to win the really good coaches call time outs. Hopefully Marshall gets better at managing this. He is a good coach with much upside, but the timeout issue he has is a flaw...like it or not.

He used up all of his timeouts Einstein! He didn't have anymore to use at the end of the game. You criticize either way. Instead of saying he has a timeout flaw, explain how he should use them better.

You're a brilliant mathematician. Pat yourself on the back Gomer. I don't criticize either way, so get your story straight. You call timeouts when your team is playing like shat, regardless of the point in which you do so. When your paid 1.5M you should make these type of decisions and coach your team, which he did a better job of today. Sometimes Gomer, regardless of logical decisions, the outcome is in the hands of twenty year olds, which creates a whole other discussion. Stopping the other team from continuing to bash your head against the backboard is a good thing believe it or not. Because of that stoppage in momentum, we actually had a chance in the end, despite our lack of BBIQ today. He used his timeouts just fine Gomer. He got beat by 5, but could have been much worse.

That would probably mean you would need a point guard who can dribble and run up the court at the same time. I guess MA is not a multitasker.

Hall had 20, we still lost. Not passing to the post was not the reason we lost...this time...

After one of the timeouts in the second half the next few possessions all had passes into the post. I'm guessing that was an emphasis during the time out.

I must have misunderstood your point. You said above in your quote that he had a flaw when it came to calling timeouts. But in this quote, it sounds like you think he did ok and that we had a chance to win because of his timeouts. - Gomer

SHOXMVC, please stop. You've made your point. Over and over and over and over.

Calling timeouts or not is not a silver bullet. Marshall called more timeouts than he ever does and WSU lost.

But some people don't understand, but that's ok.
