Moutain West Coaches not happy Wichita State ranked

It sounds like at least one MWC coaches doesn't like Wichita State and Creighton being ranked.

"Colorado State coach Larry Eustachy actually went all the way in on the Missouri Valley, vis a vis Creighton and Wichita State.

“In this polling,” Eustachy said, “and this has nothing to do with us, but in this polling, maybe you can explain this to me … How do you explain Wichita State’s amount of points in the media polling, and the coaches polling? And Creighton’s?”

“Do teams all of a sudden, once they’re in, they’re in?” Eustachy asked. “And everybody just kind of punches their ticket … or does what a team does week to week mean anything?”"

Some Folk are slow to understand just how well we have done this Season missing 3 starters which included our best player. Could any team in the Mountain West do the same? Ahhh--let me think. NO. Even our Valley opponent fans still seem to think we are so very beatable? Really? Stay tuned because at least we have our Beast back.

We have played a MWC team for the past several years. We are 5-3 against them since the 06-07 season. I don't understand the hate from Eustachy. If his team takes care of business at New Mexico tomorrow they will be ranked as they should be.

Well, it is just one, calfan. And, assuming for the sake of argument that Eustachy was sober at the time he complained, I can understand his gripe. He sees his league ranked WAY up in all the RPI calculations -- and understandably so; it's an impressive collection of teams He probably (although one can never be sure in his case) also remembers the way Boise State whacked Creighton at The Library in Omaha. And yet only New Mexico is in both Top 25s (SDSt is 25th in the coaches' poll only).

On the other hand, only UNM and Wyoming have as few as two losses (both of Wyoming's being in league play), and SDSt is pretty clearly riding reputation to be partly ranked at 12-4. Certainly a look at Colorado State's actual record shows little to suggest any support for ranking them. Besides, as noted above, if CSU can actually win at The Pit they'll get their attention.
