And this one is really interesting. Does this mean they HAVE to put zombies in the rows closest to the floor. And I thought it was just because they were big corporate givers and didn't really have much passion for the Shocks:

Each institution must arrange its seating at spectator events so as to emphasize
sportsmanship and minimize the harassment of the visiting team and its fans.

Some of the other rules are lame too.

Surprised it doesn't denote which parent is responsible for the juice boxes and granola bars after the game.

      What a load of bullshat!
But after reading that I got a warm and fuzzy feeling towards all of my fellow humans. I have this strange feeling to join the aclu now.

        2. Institutions must refrain from showing replays on video boards where an officiating
call could be considered a substantial part of the play.

Well ,,,, then there should be a policy in effect reminding the officials that they SHOULD NOT be a substantial part of ANY PLAY
best officiating job is one nobody even notices
From the road I listen (Tune In radio) at home I watch ( season Ticks )

That would go against the predominant "God complex" tag associated with many officials.

I feel bad. Had I known this, I would not have been such a ***** to the Creighton priest when I sat in section X. Which was about 20 feet from the opposing teams bench.

WELL THEN -- does this mean we should move our student section or swap ends of the court for the team seating. I would think putting the visitor's bench right next to the student section would possibly (probably) violate this rule in many venues. In our case our students (mostly) behave themselves enough not to cause undue stress on the visiting team.

If the visiting team feels comfortable, they can play well. They should not feel comfortable. I honestly don't care what Elgin or Creighton, or any school who doesn't have a real home environment has to say about that. His conference gets a lot of publicity over our treatment of visiting teams. They're just jealous they can't produce the same thing.

Good 'Ol Valley of Even. What a crock of #%$@! I shouldn't be shocked that they have these rules, but I am.

These sportsmanship rules were written for a 5th grade girls Y league.

1.Public address announcers must announce the contest in an even-handed manner with
equal enthusiasm for both teams. Additionally, there shall be an announcement
reminding spectators to adhere to good sportsmanship prior to each contest.
                          2. Institutions must refrain from showing replays on video boards where an officiating
call could be considered a substantial part of the play.

Valley baseball announcers totally ignore rule 1. Most of them enthusiastically announce the home guys and you can barely hear them give the Shockers names.

Sounds like those are good rules. They apply to the university, not to me.

Not according to this section of the rules. Any fan that does not adhere to these Valley of even rules "will be dismissed from the event":

Fans. The Conference hopes and believes that the establishment of the principles outlined in this
document will create a wholesome atmosphere that will attract more fans to our events. Fans
should be encouraged to applaud the effort by both institutions. They should be reminded that
the participants are young people who should be treated as if they were their own sons and
                                daughters.
Fans are expected to act in a manner consistent with the Code of Sportsmanship. Individuals
who fail to do so will be dismissed from athletics events.
