In the first half, the crowd was as quiet as it has been all season. Partially, that was just the insanity of the first half. But I think partially the crowd expected an easy game. Which was part of my original point. We really get crazy for teams that are good, but we've gotten to the point that we expect to win against almost everyone else, which I think contributes to the relatively low attendance and quick exits.

Was the game actually televised? I usually don't consider Espn3 to "real television" but I didn't hear anything about it being televised in other places.

(also, I never said that the second half wasn't better. My complaints were that the crowd was non-existent in the first half, that we had a fairly large number of open seats, and that a lot of people left the game pretty early).

For the love of Pete. Can we stop worrying about the crowd? The crowd is fine. Koch Arena is great.

I watched it on the ESPN 3 which used the COX 22 feed. There were multiple times when Brucy said the crowd was on the edge of exploding and looking for a reason. Our crowd is good and has a high b-ball IQ.

I think some of us just need to chill. It's hard to sell single seats, so if you have 95% of the seats sold that's pretty much a statistical sellout. With Koch being as small as it is, the athletic department undoubtedly has been working to price tickets as high as they can and still try to get close to selling out. If Koch were bigger, they could reduce ticket prices and I think they'd have larger crowds. I strongly believe this is something the department needs to look for their long range plans--either expand Koch or move downtown. At any rate, expectations that every game have the loudest and most raucus crowd ever is a little misplaced.

                  Dear Logic,

I'd like to know why a crowd was quieter than normal when losing by 9 at home to a team who had zero wins in conference play.

                  Sincerely yours,

Until every student seat is filled, no one should complain about any other aspect of the crowd. I do not know why greater effort isn't made to get the students to come to the game. I don't like it that the fat cat seats aren't always full, but at least they are paid for. I'd give last nights crowd four stars out of five. It was good, especially at the beginning of both halves.

The empty seats (not a lot of them but more than it should be) were perplexing to me. But I thought the crowd was pretty good in the first half and trying to help the players when they could. I went to the bathroom from my seats that are a fairly high (first half), and I thought from the entrance, the crowd was pretty good (although a little stunned) just prior to half. They tried to help the team but it just didn't work. SIU hit a couple of hard shots and muzzled the crowd a little.

When Creighton comes to town the student section will be full. I am even bringing two people with me to watch WSU beat Creighton. If you want the student section full make the athletic department stop requiring students show their IDs at the door. There has been games that I couldn't go too that I would have loved to given my student ticket away but I couldn't due to the ID requirement.

In other news, we could make sure the student section is full by dropping the requirement they be students.
