  • Lack of attention?

I am somewhat concerned about the lack of attention this team is currently receiving. 14 - 1 and rarely a mention of them.

The one thing that the Shox have going for them is that everyone can see that game with Creighton looming on the horizon and it bodes well for the media to have two ranked teams going at each other in a venue like Koch arena. I expect that there will be a "Push" to get WSU in the rankings and Creighton will also move up.

Hopefully we can take care of business before that game arrives and not suffer a set back.

I don't mind. As they get ignored, the chip on their shoulder gets bigger and they play bigger and harder.

I have a feeling the narrative will take off as the showdown with Creighton approaches.

We have a couple of business items to handle before a home stand that will define the conference race. I suspect that Illinois State will be desperate and a significant challenge. However, if we get the Beast back early rather than later the psychological boost Hall will give the team and the fans will crush the Redbirds. This is the real story. A returning Hall will put the college basketball spotlight on the Shockers. Winning gets us all the attention we could hope for.

Creighton is Creighton and we owe them for last year.

Am I understanding correctly that you believe the NCAA or whoever is televising the WSU/CU game puts pressure on poll voters to get certain teams into the polls in order to hype a matchup?

AP themselves will push it because a good story sells papers, so to speak.

That can work both ways. Players must not get caught up in Hall being back in the wrong way such as "now that the Beast is back there no way we can lose". Yes you can and you will if you change your frame of mind from the way it is now. Hall is a fantastic player and he almost single-handedly carried WSU to a win against Tennessee, but came up short because of a lack of team support. What makes this team great is its team identity and not having any dependence upon one player to get it done. Everyone needs to show up just as if Hall wasn't playing.
