What I explained is the current transfer process. I'm not in favor of the proposed rule as I don't see any benefit for any of the parties involved. The athlete needs that year to adjust to the new school. Under the current process, transferring doesn't affect his eligibility unless he has already transferred or has redshirted.

Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

IF the original school agrees to allowing the transfer to be on a scholarship the year they are forced to sit out. Thats a very big and crappy IF.

Students with a 2.6 GPA statistically do NOT need a year to be acclimated. That is the GPA of signifigance where transfers are as likely to graduate as non-transfers.

Not that big of a difference. Sorry, but there will be a large learning curve for a player moving from the MVC to the ACC as well. We've got Wichita State and Creighton, but the rest of the league would all be bottom of the barrel in the ACC, BIG, etc.

And there will always be a big learning curve for players, regardless of being juniors and seniors, to a new play style and teammates.

Who are we worried about stealing our players? Most top 25 programs wouldn't take advantage of this, because they already have great recruiting and tend to rely on underclassmen. I'm not worried about minor BCS programs stealing our players. As the alumni of a minor BCS program in basketball (albeit reigning ACC champs!), Wichita State has a better overall program to me.

I believe there would be a noticable difference in the learning curve of a Juco vs proven D-I Junior. First, he probably already has a big jump on the defensive end of the court. Second, he has played against reasonably quality D-I opponents already.

Again, please don't use whether WSU would gain or be hurt as reason to be for or against this rule change. I'm not.

It all depends on the conference. I don't think most one-bid conferences are that much better than JUCO leagues. A jump from, say, the Southern College to the ACC is going to be a massive learning curve, very similar to a jump from JUCO. Not AS big of a jump, but a similar one, and one most major conference teams have already decided isn't worth dealing with.

Yes, some programs will take advantage of it, and it will hurt some programs. But I think there would be just as much if not more downward mobility from the big conferences, as high rated recruits that struggle for playing time at major programs look for playing time. I think playing time will be the factor more important than going to a big name program.
