Gregg Marshall would be foolish - and he's not - 2 leave Wichita St for anything but a top 15 job. Pay, fan support, resources are top notch. - Jason King

Always a fan of Shocker hoops! RT @NMelland: @franfraschilla how about some love for the 12-1 #Shockers, doin it with 3 starters on the dl
    about 8 hours

Nice to see this stuff coming in.

I'd like to see someone try and name 15 schools that would be a better coaching situation than WSU. Taking into account: All of King's perks (pay, fan support, resources) then add no football to compete with, entirely favorable school politics, complete access to charter plane, centralized recruiting location (non-grueling access to both coasts, easy access to anywhere in the midwest).

The only negative you can come up with is "conference".

I know it's not Marshall's job, but he is way more connected than Eric Sexton, so I hope when the season is over he is very involved in conference realignment discussions -- at least to the extent of making introductions and the elevator pitch.

@Kung Wu: I think we could come up with around 10 schools but some have football. Of course most people don't realize that Duke and Kentucky have football.

Yeah, I figure there might be 10. But WSU is a bit more special than even we black and gold blooded fans might realize.

I will never disagree that our alma mater is special. I know that we are very unique in a basketball sense. I think that there might be 10 programs, maybe, that 3G would leave for. And my guess is 2 of them are on tobacco road.

ShockerPrez, do you really believe any A-10 school, or Creighton times four would be a better coaching situation than WSU? Or did I miss something?

                Yes, you missed sarcasm.

Let me put some balance to this "small number of teams HCGM would consider" talk.

It all changes if CU leaves the Valley and we remain stuck here. Such an occurance will give new meaning to "The Valley of Death". I only hope Marshall gives us a few years after such a happening to see if we can still draw the quality of recruits he has gotten in the past and if we can continue to play well enough get our Dance ticket punched. Maybe by that time, the landscape will have changed and we find a new home.
