Can it get any worse? ... yes.

Season started so promising now the loss to Tennessee and now constant injuries. Let's just crown sCUm champs now... :crushed:

That would explain why he looked to me to be limping during the Tennessee game.

I remember towards the beginning of the season, the consensus was that our bench was better than most of the Valley teams. We were right. Yes, these injuries suck, but please let the doom and gloom run its course, and tomorrow let's regroup as a fanbase and realize we have some incredibly talented so-called "backups" to take over for the next several weeks, including two top 10 Jucos and a Parade All American--not to mention one of the best coaches in the nation, who is capable of turning the cast of the "Golden Girls" into a competitive basketball team.

Excellent timing, Prez. Charleston Southern is the only game before then, and WSU should be able to handle them with the nine still standing, even if Orukpe and Cotton are teetering a bit. Meanwhile, if I'm Armstead, I'm starting to check for vultures circling overhead -- all of the other starters have gone down. And Marshall may want to start handing out black non-contact practice jerseys the way they do in football. These practice sessions are getting a little dangerous.

If Green isn't ready defensively, which I believe is what Marshall said, he won't be playing, regardless of his position (which is indeed 3 "at this level").

No need in wasting a red shirt year for mop up minutes. 9 players should be able to handle it until the others return.

The way we rack up fouls I have a feeling they would be more than mop up minutes. Wish the other big fella was eligible.

I think that he stated that Green was not quick enough to guard a guard and not strong enough to guard a 4.

                    • Back in Marshall's early day's with WSU he would talk about minimizing a player's weakness. Perhaps its time to go back to that drawing board with at least Wiggins and perhaps Green.

                        • I hope no one is questioning GM's practice style. He's been on record that they practice so hard, games are actually a reprieve. He's probably had the same type of mindset with the team's practice since he's got here or for his entire coaching career for that matter. It hasn't hit us hard before, it just so happens things have not gone well of late for some of the young gentleman. Just shrug your shoulders and hope for the best.

                            And for next year.

                            • I am not sure, but perhaps those HAIR T-SHIRTS were a curse ... Dreadlocks (hurt), Mane (hurt), Locks (hurt).

Count me amongst those feel we are going be ok. Lufile is no C Hall, but he ain't chopped liver either. Wiggins/Cotton are going to have to step things up and I think they will. Next man up ...

I have to admit I have been wondering whether that may be a contributing factor, but as you point out these injuries have not been a big issue in the past so maybe it is just a string of bad luck. OTOH, I am not sure we have ever had a collection of physical specimens from top to bottom like we have this year beating up on each other.

That said EO's injury was incurred during a game I believe. No way of really knowing how much if any the tough practices contributed to any of the other injuries. Aren't stress fractures normally an overuse injury incurred over a extended time period.

In any case, 3G is a lot smarter than I am when it comes to basketball and he will no doubt adjust his practice intensity if he believes it needs to be adjusted.

In any case, we have quite a challenge in front of us, but I think we still have enough horses to be competitve but we can't absorb any more hits.
