This fan has the confidence that our Coach will find a way. I've seen very little evidence that he can't or won't.

No reason Lufile can't/Won't step up and score 10+ in the next 5 games. I have liked every bit of what I have seen out of him.

But I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight

"Don't drain that chalice yet boys, I still have a trick or two up my sleeve."
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

If Wessel redshirts, we will have the best backcourt in the MVC (well, hopefully we won't still be in the MVC) for the next 3 years. I hope he can make the best decision for him. If that decision is to take a medical redshirt and not try and play injured, so be it. If he can suit up and help us, that is great as well.

We have a ton of talent sitting on the bench hence the commonly touted phrase on here, "deepest Shocker team in as long as I can remember." I have absolutely no worries whatsoever about Carl's injury. In fact, I am excited that Wiggins will get more time to develop. With the tandem of Wiggins and Early both going at their full potential, you would soon forget about Carl Hall. I don't make this statement lightly because I know what Carl Hall brings to the court, it's just that I am equally aware of the other talent on our team.

Early is the one to watch out for. In very short order he is going to be writing huge checks that his body CAN cash...

Wessel has made some nice baskets for us but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Wessel is not a franchise player. Baker is a much better overall player than Wessel. And with our guards coming in next year, Wessel better play as much as he can right now.

Need to get these guys to know they can win (though he doesn't think for the most part these guys suffer any confidence issues)

Feels really bad for Carl with all the things he's been through and the hard work he put in this summer.

We don't have a low post scorer on the team, therefore this team will have to take a more perimeter type team.
I think the coach said a little more of a perimeter team. He also mentioned driving it more to get paint touches. Something to look forward to next year was mentioned. FVV is really clicking with Kadeem Coleby for lob dunks.

It was interesting to hear the team has regular character building sessions. The team Chaplin will be leading the session tomorrow.

Cold, Evan is a 3 and we only have point type guards and bigs coming in next year.

He sure plays like a 2 doesn't he?

                          Small forward

                          Main article: Small forward
The small forward (SF), colloquially known as the three, is typically somewhat shorter, quicker and leaner than power forwards and centers. Thus, in the NBA, small forwards range from 6 feet 6 inches (1.96 m) to 6 feet 9 inches (2.06 m). European small forward height ranges from 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) to 6 feet 8 inches (2.03 m). The small forward position is considered to be perhaps the most versatile of the main five basketball positions, due to the nature of its role, which is sometimes similar to that of a power forward, and other times more resembles the role of a shooting guard. The small forward and shooting guard positions are often interchangeable.

Small forwards have a variety of assets, such as quickness and strength inside. One common thread between all kinds of small forwards is an ability to "get to the line" and draw fouls by aggressively attempting post-up plays, lay-ups, or slam dunks. As such, accurate foul shooting is a common skill for small forwards, many of whom record a large portion of their points from the foul line. Small forwards should be able to do a little bit of everything on the court, typically playing roles such as swingmen but also as point forwards and defensive specialists.

Marshall runs a 4 out type system where the 4 often times is a stretch position that can run and shoot from the outside. Based on that you need a 3 who is quick and physical and able to rebound effectively. I would definitely call Evan a 3 based on that. He can shoot from outside, plays physical defense, and is able to rebound.

Main point is that we don't run a traditional offense and defense, because of the way 3G wants to get after people on both ends of the floor. This means traditional definitions are useless.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

I'm calling BS on this one.

Heart and guts don't appear on the stat sheet. Evan Wessel will continue to get PT as long as he is a Shocker and as long as he is healthy.
