I hope I am wrong, but he is just anxious to get ready for this new job in South Carolina.
This program is going to go backwards if HCGM leaves this season.

Nice to see Mantas continuing to gain confidence and play better.
Even Aaron Ellis looked pretty confident on the two perimeter jumpers he nailed.
Bottom line though we have to have PJ and PT playing much smarter and much better to be able to win some of these games. Only about 13 or so games left to play basketball. Let's at least go out with a positive feeling that you played your best, win, lose or draw.
It's also about time for JT to show that he really wants to be a player. I still say he has the skills and some natural basketball IQ on the offensive side of the ball. Now if we would just give some I-Do on the defensive end of the ball he maybe could start showing some progress.
Gal deserves credit for doing the best he can at the point in Matt's absence. It's not his natural position, but he is pretty much all we have right now.
Shocks averaging 56.4 points in MVC play (52.5 if you throw out the 80 we put up against Bradley) while giving up 65.4. Somehow we need to find another 10 points a game from somewhere. Obviously, its going to take several guys to step up at the same time.

This program is going to go backwards if HCGM leaves this season.
With Marshall: 3 nice incoming freshman and a solid juco point guard to look forward to next season.
Without Marshall: 2 recruiting seasons in a row straight down the toliet. Add that on to Turgs last recruiting season that he missed on and it will be a devastating hole to climb out of.

From Looking at the Box Score:
Negatives:
PJ and PT a combined 2-17 (11.8%) from the field including a 1-7 effort by PJ from beyond the arc and 4-8 (50%) from the line including 3 makes in a row by PJ after the game was out of reach.
JT with 5 fouls in 8 minutes of play. Is that a Shocker record?
15 turnovers against SIU is not that bad, but we only forced SIU into 9 turnovers. Ramon and Phil had 4 turnovers each. So 7 turnovers by the rest of the guys was really pretty solid.
Postiives:
Outside of PJ and PT the rest of the team shot 15-27 (55.6%) from the field including a very good 6-11 (54.5%) from outside the arc.
Despite losing PT to fouls with 9 minutes remaining and JT to fouls with 7 minutes remaining we hung in there on the boards outrebounding SIU by 31-29, including a 11-7 advantage on the offensive boards.
Despite a very poor shooting game I though PJ made some very nice defensive plays and pulled down some really tough rebounds. PJ logged 35 minutes and Gal logged 36 minutes. Tough duty against a physical and constantly in your face SIU team.
Perhaps it's time for PJ to go back to his role as an outstanding supporting player and look to create shots from Mantas, Hatch, Gal and Ellis on the perimeter and for PJ to pick up his points of the boards, in transition, on drives to the basket and only the occassional 3-ball when wide open and in rythm as well as contributing strong defensive and rebounding efforts.
Mantas with a nice line: 3-4 from the field, including 3-3 from beyond the arc, 2-2 from the line, 5 rebounds and NO turnovers in 32 minutes. Hopefully, he will continue to build on that performance.
