This. It’s all so sad on so many levels.

The year we finally get KState into Koch, when they’re easily beatable, and there is absolutely zero buzz or excitement. An athletic department trying to sell $80 and $120 tickets will watch at least 1500 seats sit empty that could’ve been sold and even more embarrassingly, about 4,000 of those in attendance will be cheering for the opposition.

I don’t even think the 1990s could top what’s going to happen tomorrow night. Be proud, Wichita State.

Q; Good Moring WuOracle. The Shockers have hit a brick wall recently trying to get a win. What kind of game attendance will happen against K-State this weekend. Also, what is your score prediction.
A: Give me a couple of moments to create an image and here is my score prediction--given the competitive nature of both Wichita State and Kansas State, it could be a close match. Let’s say Wichita State 72, Kansas State 68

Q; HA HA with the pictures.
A: Well, just wait until Wichita State wipes that frown off your face with a big win!

                  Q; Later
A: Catch you later! If you ever need more assistance, you know where to find me. Have a great day! Go Shockers!!!

Those pics should be fairly accurate.

I know, there won't be quite that much purple and I doubt anyone shows up with a paper bag over their head, but I'm sure many are thinking about it.

$50 for GA tickets and that's the sale price. I'd really like to understand their thought process. This isn't Duke coming in to face the 2014 Shockers. There's going to be 8500 people there. 4000 of them will be wearing purple. Independent of what happens during the actual game, this is going to be an sad day for the program.

$50 BOGO might sell a few, but a $10 blow-out special, seems logical in this situation… large supply, very little demand.

"For the first time in 22 years, the Wichita State men’s basketball team will play Kansas State at Koch Arena in a 6 p.m. game on Saturday. While the final game of a four-year series between the in-state rivals isn’t on pace to be the first Roundhouse sell-out since March 8, 2020, Saturday’s game could contend for the largest crowd at Koch Arena since the coronavirus pandemic — the current mark is 9,070 for a WSU-Houston game on Feb. 20, 2022..."

Playing devil’s advocate regarding ticket prices and explaining their logic. This is the only game on the schedule that has local interest at a premium price. They have to protect their season ticket base. I think that they price individual game tickets so that if you bought a ticket for every game that it would add up to the same amount approximately that a season ticket holder pays for SASO and their tickets. Why would you buy a season ticket if you knew you could pay much less if you bought them individually? That is already a problem because you can buy tickets on the resale market for most games for less than the ticket office is selling them. It is also a dangerous precedent to sell tickets at a huge discount at the last minute. You sure shouldn’t do it for your biggest game.

They have probably sold around 1900 individual tickets for $160,000 as of now. It is the only game on the schedule that has any local demand. I am estimating that they had 3800 individual tickets to sell based on 10,500 capacity minus 1,000 student tickets minus 5,700 season tickets. There are still 1,900 $80 tickets available. I counted the green dots. I think the $50 GA tickets are coming from unclaimed free student tickets because those are the sections that show the available GA tickets. I bought one.

Pay the 50 bucks. This may be the biggest crowd for the foreseeable future. This will be the biggest crowd since the Alcorn State debacle. It may also be the game that turns the season around or maybe even the program around. If I recall correctly, in Marshall’s 2nd season, we were on a long losing streak and we beat Creighton and that was the beginning of the best decade of Shocker basketball. “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and a good thing never dies.” While it is unlikely, there have been far bigger upsets in college basketball this season.

Shockers win by 1 at the buzzer with a 3 pointer by Zion in 2 overtimes.

                              WSU 84

                              K-State 83
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

We’re going to get our shift shoved in. Look what happened against every decent opponent. Maybe I’ll be surprised. If so, cool. But umkc loss paints the clearest picture. The team, the coach, and the existing program except for maybe Acy has no heart or toughness when the going gets tough.

i hate being so pessimistic. But optimism only lasts so long.
