I would compare this atmosphere to Houston NIT 2005 or Nebraska NIT 2011. Not ridiculously-electric since it wasn’t full but still very, very good.
I have a challenge for the administration. Make damn sure that Memphis is full. If they have to leave some money on the table, so be it. If they have to sell $20 tickets the week of the game, fine. But make damn sure that 10,000 people are in the building. The experience tonight will make people want to come back. Tonight was a little taste of what CKA can still be.78-65

Look, it's just one game. And if Tuesday night hadn't have happened, I'd be a bit more thrilled with the direction of the program. To me, all this means is we're inconsistent and we have bad coaching. This team is capable of being good but they have to get up for every game like tonight. And they don't. And they certainly haven't proven it thus far, see UMKC, see Monmouth, see Alcorn State. You can't just play like this only against the good teams. We can't afford to sleepwalk through anybody. And that's also the responsibility of the coaches to instill that mindset.
Bell was good. Still made some dumb decisions at times. I'm glad he had a game like that. But I know a couple of games doesn't make a career. We're still running a lot of the same offense (not offense) but it helps when shots go in. Rebounding was still horrid out of the gates but the second half improved dramatically. Washington is definitely a Marshall-type player. He flat out earned his spot out there. Loved his energy. There were some better passing and better attempts at getting Quincy the ball. KSU still had more assists though. We didn't shoot a million 3's which helps too. Turnovers were also held in check.
It was an awesome win and we'll have scoreboard on the Kitties for the foreseeable future which is nice. Still this is just one game and likely an aberration. Friends wont tell us much. At Temple will tell us a lot. We'll see if a corner has been turned but I'm not optimistic. I hope to be proven wrong though.
At least our Christmas isn't ruined. Nice W.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

I guess you need something after the Christmas break to get the juices flowing again but not sure this is it. That said I am not sure what other options were available, if any.Last edited by 1972Shocker; 1 hour ago.

The Shockers endured a tough video session after Tuesday's loss.
"We faced it," Bell said. "We owned it and got better."
While that loss deflated fans, Mills said the Shockers didn't over-react.
"Things don't always go well in life," he said. "It's your job to respond the right way. Snowflakes melt because of heat."
The Shockers did respond and in a way that should reward the fans who are sticking with them through ups and downs in recent seasons. They gave fans bragging rights in this infrequent series – Kansas State had won five straight starting in 2002 and resuming in 2021.
Whether or not Saturday's memorable effort turns into a turning point or light-bulb moment will be determined over the next three months. Wichita State needs to dial up that intensity no matter the opponent.
https://goshockers.com/news/2024/12/21/the-roundhouse-rh-wichita-state-runs-away-in-second-half.aspxThe Shockers enjoyed the final minutes of this one, waving up the crowd, strutting around the court with big smiles, giving the no-doubt nod and soaking up the feeling of running an opponent out of Koch Arena.

Cortez was outstanding in the 2nd half running the team. He came in with about 13 minutes to go in the 2nd. Score was 45-44 we were behind. He played the rest of the half and we won by 19 points. In my opinion that is about all we could ask of a point guard. Well done Bijan!
