So a bit would by 12.5 cents. But we never had a 12.5 cent coin or any combination of pennies, nickels and dimes that would equal 12.5 cents. Most older than 50 know that 2 bits is a quarter. But most of us probably don't know the derivation of that. I didn't.
Blame the Spanish.
Back in the early days of the US, there were many coins in use. One of them, which was quite popular during the 18th century, was the Spanish dollar. This Spanish dollar was made of fine silver and it was heavier and much larger than the other coins that were in circulation at the time. In fact, it was so large that it was often cut into eight smaller parts, hence each one was worth ⅛ of the dollar or 12 1⁄2 cents. Therefore, with two bits of this Spanish dollar, you had 25 cents – a quarter of a dollar. Later on, when the American quarter came into use, it got the nickname “two bits” since it was literally worth two parts of the Spanish dollar.Last edited by 1972Shocker; 2 days ago.

Your guy Mills might not even be able to handle a watered- down CUSA. I sure hope that couldn't possibly be the case, but did you watch the Monmouth game? That was almost worse than Cohen level bad, if not, and to think otherwise someone would have to be a serious moron, or mongoloid. I know you agree with me on that...

Said I wasn't going to mention it anymore but going to do it again because I think it falls under coaching. KP's last game was 19 pts and ten boards. Shooting .676 for the season averaging almost 12 ppg. Has 22 assists which would be 2nd on our team.
