I’ll take playing D like most any team other than the one I saw last night.

      • Since K-State is coming to 21st and Hillside Saturday, let's go back and examine a game that both Coach Tang and Coach Mills were last here together as assistants for Baylor here at 21st and Hillside. This was before the Baylor Bears won the National Ship in 2020-21 Season.

The game many of us also watched on Dec. 1, 2018, when Coach Gregg Marshall was head coach and Baylor came to play us. In the 1st half the Shockers had up to a 33 point lead. Our official attendance was 10,506 and loud and rowdy as usual. The Halftime score was 44-15. The final score was 71-63. The Shockers lead that series 4-2 against Baylor.

Coach Tang so far has had some early success early on and before this Season was 45-25. Last night with a loss to Drake has some of their fans getting sassy. We the Shocker fans are concerned being down as many as 22 last night and losing against KC. Include me in this concern. Contrasting the two games mentioned above shows genuine reasons for that concern.

Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Nice was thrown out of the window by the scrotum when we were blown out by a team that hasn't won a conference game in 2.5 years then lost at home to a team that didn't have a D1 win before December 10 and we managed to lead that game for an impressive 1 minute and 50 seconds.

Nice is bleeding out on the side of the road.

          • So here's an interesting paragraph from Taylor's game story:

WSU had clear instructions to stay attached to Kansas City sharpshooter Jamar Brown, yet consistently lost him in the first half and allowed him to score 11 points right away to stake the Roos to an early lead. WSU was also told to go under all screens set for Babacar Diallo, deemed a non-shooter for good reason, yet the Shockers consistently chased the point guard over screens and allowed the senior to score a career-high 18 points.
Ok, soooo, it's clear there are two problems:

            1. Players not doing what they've been told do.
            2. A coach not chewing some ass on the sideline to send a message to said players.

I know he put Joy in for a whopping four minutes, but at some point give Pipkin a shot.

And start running plays for McGinnis. You brought him in to make threes. So give him that opportunity and if the other guards feel a bad drive, followed by a turnover or forced shot is a better option, sit their asses down.

I read the article and it felt like the only person who took any PERSONAL accountability was Bell. Who ironically, watching the game, was the player i thought was the least of the problem for once.

With all the player movement due to the portal, and then I even wonder thinking back into the player's time in AAU before they enter college, do players really get held to any personal accountability to the team performance? Or is it all about getting their stats to showcase themselves? I ask because I know literally nothing about how the AAU/prep school side of things works. Are we now in a system that creates this problem?

I've said it before, but if there's not room for XB on our team, there's not room for me as a fan. Is he FVV? Obviously not. But I like that young man and the way he goes about his business.

In game threads I often criticize Bell's on-court decision making. But I've never thought he didn't give everything he had.

                    • I've always thought there was a place on the team for Bell. I just believe on a good team it would be as a role player giving breathers to the guys that win games.

                      • He usually drives me nuts with his decision making but he does more with less. I honestly believe he's tapping into everything he's got. Not sure I can say that about any other player.

                        • I'm going to make a blanket statement here that isn't terribly fair, but here goes anyway.

This is the kind of disaster you get when you put educators in the positions of business people. We are trying to run a profession business/sports team....with educators.

I can think of few partnerships that would be more likely to fail miserably. I feel bad for the people that have pissed away their hard earned money at NIL. I really do.

                          • Educators are never good for business positions. DC comes to mind....
