And no, I don't spend my time watching random P5 teams play their sub-300 SOS. It's weird that you do, and then complain when we play substantially better teams.
Yah we looked really good against Monmouth. Absolutely destroyed that 300+ team.

It’s weird that I watch our opponents play games? Well you better call all the other people weird for watching them tonight.

Ok bet. Put your money where your pie hole is and bet me that we’re gonna be favorites in the game since we’re the better team. Do it.

I mean, you can find an outlier in our schedule all you want. It doesn't change that our schedule is much better than theirs and all but two of our wins are against teams that are better than their best win. BTW, it took them overtime to beat a team, by 2 points, that is only slightly ranked higher on KP than Monmouth.

My point was that you seem to be bragging about watching a team play teams that aren't recognizable, determine that they're good because they beat those teams, and then get on Shockernet and make comments about our strength of schedule or the teams we've played. A couple of posts earlier you seemed to believe that ETSU was at all comparable to any team they've played.

I've never once said that we would be favored. I said I wasn't impressed by a "resurging DePaul" that is 7-1 with one of the worst SOS in the country.

College basketball is all about matchups, I don't care what the RPI or NET is. They seem to shoot the 3 pretty good and we defend it, so I'll take the Shox. I have no idea how their defense is, though, especially defending drives and our 7 footer.

Sorry, not impressed with a 7-1 record from a P5 team with a RPI (your metric of choice) SOS ranked 344. Shockers, OTOH, SOS 107.
Are you saying we just happened to play poorly against ETSU (RPI 184) at home, Minnesota (RPI 176) neutral, but did just enough to win? We will be at DePaul RPI (141). I really hope you are right, and they will be no problem.

I think you have selective amnesia or are just arguing to argue or trying to save face or just completely like making stuff up. One of those is in play here.

Nobody brought up SOS's except for you with your initial post.

lol, I was bragging about watching a college basketball game? Yah, you got me... that was a cool humblebrag that I've watched DePaul play on the ol television. Again, putting words in people's mouths.. I never said they were good but YOU are the one implying that they are BAD simply because of their SOS. That's horrendous logic.

You won't say they're favored but yet you were the one coming here acting like this is gonna be a cakewalk because DePaul hasn't played anybody. Stop getting all offended if you're not even gonna defend your points correctly. You're mad because you think WSU is being slighted in this matchup but then say they aren't gonna be favored to win it. Which is it? Agreeing with both doesn't make sense.

Ummm. Depoop is not a P5 team, because it does not play in a P5 conference. I'm sure that was merely an oversight on your part.

There is no such thing as P5 any longer btw. It's P4, and barely P4 at that. More like P3 + a semi-P in the greatly diminished Little12.

ok - so I looked at their roster, it breaks down like this:
They play 9 deep (so do we). We're about the same, size-wise, they are a little bigger. The 3 point shooting is the biggest difference. They have 3 guys shooting over 40% from 3 (Meyer, Rivera and Skogman).

Meyer (15 ppg) - 6'2 PG, shoots 44% from 3 and has made 23 on the year (compared to our leader Justin Hill with 11).
Rivera (13 ppg) - 6'5 Guard shoots 44% from 3 has made 20 on the year.
                  Gunn (9 ppg) - 6'7" Guard has made 10 3s
                  Skogman (9 ppg) 6/11" post, 7 boards per game, 43% from 3 has made 10 3s

It's gonna come down to defending the perimeter and not allowing that to be converted into easy drives to the basket. As for us, I think we need to play inside out, but our outside game needs to be decent.

I never said you brought up anything about SOS. I've said that you make comments, regularly, about the teams that WSU is playing and how that determines how you evaluate the skill of the team. Meanwhile, making comments about DePaul's record being less fake than ours while having a substantially weaker schedule. For example, mentioning ETSU despite them being nearly 100 spots better than DePaul's best win, the Monmouth game even though DePaul had a similar performance against a similar ranked team. Has WSU had issues with teams this year? Yep, but they're playing teams much better than any team that's stepped on the court with DePaul.

I've never said DePaul was bad, and I've never said the game was going to be a cakewalk. I've said I'm not impressed with a P5 team that has a 7-1 record with a SOS in the 300's. Something that I'm about 95% sure you've said somewhere else on this board.

I'm not mad or offended lol. I don't think WSU is being slighted by anyone. I've simply said that DePaul hasn't played anyone. Someone replied with RPI, and I replied. I don't determine who is favored to win a game, but the home team will likely be favored. All but one metric has WSU as the better team. It is not contradictory to make those observations.

This will be a close game. The Shockers will prevail barely.

                        DePaul 75
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Ken Pomeroy is predicting DePaul will lose both games. Also, WSU has been very "lucky" so far this season, i.e., performing better than statistics would say they should.
