I really hesitated commenting on the basketball team but because Doc did I will also. Doc you are right on. Right now it is hard to watch or be enthusiastic. I don’t think the fans will come back until the team plays a lot harder and not as much one on one dribble drive, with 3 players watching from the opposite side of the court. I continue to be less than thrilled watching HCPM looking at his notes during games or bent over with his hands on his knees. I would prefer him show more emotion. I don’t care what kind of emotion just something other than being a zombie on the sideline. I wish he would let the refs know when they missed a call or when it is getting too rough etc. I want to believe he is the right guy for this job, but so far I think his sideline demeanor fits a faith based university way better than WSU. If you look at the Shox coaching history most if not all the previous successful coaches had a sideline personality that the fans could get behind. Examples, Ralph Miller, Harry Miller, Gene Smithson, Turg, Marshall all could lose it on the refs or their players if need be. They also would give out high fives for effort or floor burns, or when someone drew a charge etc. I know Mills isn’t doing those kind of things, but I think if Wichita is really going to get behind him and start buying tickets, he needs to look in the mirror and look at previous years tapes to see the crowds reaction when one of the coaches above “lost it” on a ref or gave a bear hug to a player who earned it. I hope I am wrong but for me the team is boring to watch and so is Mills. 7-1 is a great start, but other than a few times during a few games for me they have been boring to watch.
