The problem with "being fine with tonight" is this gets us blasted by a middle of the pack AAC team. We won by 20 because Alcorn can't shoot

Yeah after seeing the middle of the pack AAC teams....I am not so sure about it. We shall see what happens

Unless you think most of the AAC could beat Alcorn by 50

I thought your post might benefit from some context. Hope you don't mind

The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

You are looking at this the wrong way. Don't replace us with someone else tonight, but replace Alcorn with a team that can even remotely shoot. If we allow 20+ offensive rebounds to most teams, we are going to be in massive trouble. We played awful defense, and they only shot 26% from the field. If they even just shoot 40% from the floor... which is still a bad shooting night .. we lose.

We didn't take control .. we didn't dominate .. we took 50% of our shots from 3 .. making 9 ... and relied on them to only make 26% from the floor to win. Alcorn State dictated how we played this game based on our shot selection.

                  Are we though?

I guess it depends on your perspective & if you're happy with meeting expectations for a team ranked #91 on Kenpom, which is our current rating.

Alcorn has played three Kenpom top 60 teams. The margins in those games were 41, 55, 38. Alcorn also lost to NAIA Xavier (LA) by 6. Xavier's a solid NAIA team (#20 per Massey), but not really the company we want to be in.

Personally, I'm very disappointed that this is our product in year 3. We have a roster loaded with seniors. Zero shooters, no athletic PF's. Not one 6'7 -6'9 athlete that's available, if we have one at all (Meeks??). The style of play is ugly. The attention to detail, competitive stanima, & bbiq are severely lacking.

Teams take on the personality of their leaders. We've seen this same product for three years. This IS Mills & this is his "vision". And it's not entertaining, nor is it inspiring.

Thanks for the correction. It actually feels like it's been 4!

                      • With complete roster resets every year. Not sure it really matters year 2 or 3. Only matters from a contract standpoint. Next year is a total reset again

That will happen with having NINE seniors on the roster. Targeting fewer seniors-to-be and a couple of good Jucos could help that.

It was that tough free throw defense of ours that held them to 11-20. Without it, their normal 70% FT for the year and we wouldn't have covered.
