Here are some quotes from the Montana State fan base following/during the game:

Initial thoughts- we have gained athleticism and length. We are learning to play together. The cats will be fun to watch this year!

the odds are really stacked against us so getting beat by only 6 in each half aint too bad. We even led a few times in the first half.

Game could have easily been one or two possession difference. We missed some gimme shots at the rim and were out of position on defense too many times. And the overall officiating was bad but thought way too many ticky tack calls against the Cats. Wisconsin is a strong program that will have another successful season. I expect the Cats will be very good this year in the Big Sky.

2 ball dominate players in Max and Walker on the floor at the same time isn’t fun to watch. Add to that their defense, ooof.

The refereeing has been brutally one sided.

Extra length at a lot of positions it seems

Cats are definitely contesting everything and getting lots of steals and blocks. Wouldn't think you would say that when we are playing Wisconsin..

I found it interesting to see Jabe Mullins 6'6 to be our starting point guard. Definitely a new team this year. First game so lots will change of course, but its just great to see a game!

Did Goracke come off the bench? Started listening a little late
He did. It was weird to realize that. Says something about how deep our team is, or just tinkering with lineups?

6'6" PG is interesting. It will be fun to see how Hill does against that.

I expect them to be a little fatigued with the quick turnaround after such a game.

        Shox - 85
        Cats - 72

We'll open up the lead later in the game as they tire.

If you encounter a Bobcat out in the wild blue yonder, it has been said: "Don't panic!" Bobcats Don't like loud noise. Thus, maybe blow a whistle or crank up an Elvis song such as "Shake, Rattle, and Roll Those Pots and Pans." Next, if there are 2 of you, as a last resort, wear good running shoes and out run the other guy. Yikes!

When Shockers encounter Bobcats at 21st and Hillside, they must smother them with 3 secret weapons. 1. An inside then outside offense with teamwork that inspires refs loud constant whistles favoring the Shocks 2. A hair on fire loud defense that begets thundering crowd cheers and a surpass in Shocker points. 3. Just win. It might be closer than some prognosticate. It's early.

          Shockers 77

          Bobcats 70

Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

If Wisconsin really is receiving-votes good, this feels like a trap game against a team that is much better than anticipated.

But if UNI really did beat them by10 in a secret scrimmage, then perhaps Wisconsin is over-rated.

The portal era has made pre-and-early-season prognostications very difficult.

No excuse for people 25 and under.

Secret scrimmages are for the coaches to test different lineups and get a feel for each players game play. Outcomes mean little to nothing.

I was 25 and under once and it's definitely valid. There's a reason that after certain games even in HS that we would dial back the intensity of practice the next day or two to help get our legs back.

This will be one we win by 30 or lose by 10. They are live or die from three and if they get hot, good luck. QB will be out of his element defensively with how little they shoot st the rim.
Brummett throws, STRUCK HIM OUT! THE SHOCKERS ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! AN UNBELIEVABLE STORY!

So I guess you didn't practice hard the 2 days prior to games either? That was definitely not my coach.

The day before a game was always a little lighter than previous practices. Fine tuning the game plan and such.

Most of our conditioning was done before the season.

I did state certain games, not all games. A battle and hard fought game like the one they just had at Wisconsin takes a toll and requires recovery. We would have a few games a year that would fit into that category and yes, the next day or two would be lighter than our normal practices as it makes no sense to not have recovery time after that sort of effort and energy exertion.

We were also always one of the top teams in our classification so we were obviously doing something right. I'm not sure if they had blanket rankings regardless of classifications back then and if they did, I never saw them nor paid attention to them. But we were a top 4A team each year I was in HS.

Our coach was also a hard ass that most didn't particularly like.

I would buy your theory if the game was next day. But these guys will have had at least 36 hours to rest up.
IF they are well conditioned 25yo and under, without injuries, I just don't buy it. If they're not well conditioned, that's a coaching problem.

We have depth. Hope QB doesn't go chasing the ball to far away from the rim. Stay home and let the other four guard the perimeter. A small let down seems natural. Shox 79-72

UNI is probably tougher to figure out than Wisky this season. Panthers lost their 2 best players to Colorado State (Bjorn Borg) and Iowa State (Nate Heise). Oddly enough they did have Bjorn's younger brother, JJ, join the team. Seems odd to leave when little bro is coming in. But so far the Panthers are shooting lights out and beat a solid Milwaukee team handily.

Anyway, I suspect we'll have our hands full tomorrow. We'll need to play well and at our pace.
