Less than 7 days from the Official Start of the season and it has come time to either put-up or shut-up with your predictions for the 2024-25 season. You have seen/heard about how the schedule lays out with both non-conference and AAC Conference matchups, results of scrimmage/exhibition games, who might be “red-shirting”, who’s injured and when they will be available, who hasn’t been fully cleared by the NCAA, and how other teams in and out of conference are expected to perform this season.

    Previous Predictions this season:
    Springtime - 21.1 wins
    Summertime - 23.0 wins
    Falltime - 23.1 wins

Well fire up your crystal balls and look to the future and include the AAC Tournament or other potential Post Season games in your expectations, well..., what say you?

I said 25 to 27. I'm no Charlie Brown and I'm not putting a wishy washy vote. We're going to kick that football to the moon this season. Go Shocks.

Medium seems about right. Under 20 wins would be a disappointment imo.

That seems fairly reasonable. I think we may do a bit better, but not a lot.

I just looked through the schedule (D1 only) and I could see us only getting 18 wins. There are obviously some games that one could reasonably think goes either way which would put it in a range of 13 to 23 wins depending on how those toss up games go. I doubt we win or lose all of those.

You don't roll out a roster featuring nine seniors with the expectation of 17 wins. Not good enough.

Four of those seniors are new to Wichita. One is new to the country. Only two of the nine came from what would be considered a higher rated conference I believe. I'm not counting Meeks who really didn't play at Arizona due to injury.

There's a lot of unproven talent in that group and one of them currently isn't eligible to play.

There will be a whole bunch of new guys at WSU next season as well - can't use that as an excuse when virtually every other D1 team faces the same circumstances.

Last year's team won 15 games, anything under 20 wins this season would be a major disappointment in my opinion.

Not unreasonable factors you've laid out but that doesn't change expectations. 17 wins with no postseason will do nothing to get butts in seats and renew overall excitement in the program. At that point the program is just meh. Before you know it we staring at a decades long postseason drought.

Especially when you're looking at replacing at least nine players next season.

Any season with less than 20 wins is a major disappointment.

Having a bunch of brand new seniors also guarantees nothing.

It's hard to have high expectations, for me at least, when you have a group of unproven players playing together.

Every team and fan base thinks all of their new toys make them better than last season. Many of those teams will not be. Being better than last year isn't hard as we were bad last year. But expecting 10 more wins from this unit seems awfully ambitious and some seem to believe we're going to get that, and maybe more.

This team will have a shot at 20. But they could just as easily struggle to get 15. Especially if the Croatian never gets clearance. I'm obviously not as high on DeGray as some, but the thought of him being the primary backup at center doesn't make me all warm and fuzzy in my tum tum.

And a lot will come down to if this team can actually shoot from the outside. I won't believe anybody is really that good until they prove it as we've been duped many times before. And we need a few of those guys to pan out.

I'm not banking so much on the new guys as I am the returning guys being much improved. The biggest adjustment is that we have a real PG this year, which should help a lot.
