I get that things don't look great right now, but it's also not like other basketball conferences would be drooling over getting us either.
The AAC still has some solid potential. We knew some of the new teams would need a few years to adapt to a higher level and expectation.
Memphis will always be somewhat relevant.
Wichita should be.
North Texas I would expect to stay fairly consistent as a top 75ish team.
UAB is a massive disappointment right now and I can't explain it. They're generally a pretty solid program and should be.
Rice is investing and I think making progress.
Tulsa ****ing sucks, but should be better.
Tulane needs to move on from Hunter it looks like. But they've got their football program in a good place so I'm sure they can get basketball turned around to respectability.
FAU just had a massive change in leadership, but are trying to invest in the program and should stay solid(ish).
Temple is a mystery. We expect more out of them but I'm starting to wonder if they just are what they are.
ECU just needs to be a decent bad team. Problem is they're far from the worst teams in the conference but about where I'd expect them in NET.
Charlotte is a massive disappointment and probably the school we added that I was least on board with. They talk a big game but haven't done ****.
UTSA was a football add with promises to invest in basketball. We knew they'd take time. They're better than Tulsa.
USF gets a bit of a pass this year. Losing a great young coach just before the season has to be tough. I really liked Amir.
Most years I would expect Memphis, Wichita, North Texas, and UAB to be top 100 teams.
Others that could be close and sneak in would be FAU, USF, and Temple. (Some work needed in this group)
Teams that should be consistent top 150 types would be ECU, Tulane, Rice, and Tulsa. (Also work needed here) Though Rice really intrigues me and I look forward to seeing what they look like in a couple of years.
I have low expectations for Charlotte and UTSA, but have more faith in UTSA figuring things out in the next five years.
With the NIL dump that's been put on teams/conferences recently I can be patient with some of this as there's a lot to figure out in how to go about things for different schools. Remember, NIL wasn't supposed to be pay for play when it was passed but it quickly turned into that. I don't completely fault schools for not immediately going the P4P route.
The AAC more than most conferences will struggle to keep top talent because of this. We generally recruit at a higher level than some of the other conferences around us mentioned. It's not uncommon for rosters that stick together to have advantages over more talented but less experienced rosters. This will find a balance in the next few years I think. It's still a painful process.
Also, Wichita as a whole is much better off being tied to teams in Texas than the northeast. A lot of what's happened on campus as far as student growth as well as campus growth can be tied back to joining the AAC and having partner schools that are more like us and have connections down I-35. It also doesn't hurt recruiting for multiple sports.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Friars let the new version of Suburban Horse have a bit to much room on the 3’s and it cost PU.

Depaul was absolutely gassed and totally ineffective in the OT. Lost by 7
70 - 63
The game at Depaul is winnable. It's going to take a game in the top half of what the Shox have done all year. Need to pay better than they did against Minnesota. If Depaul is stroking 3's it's a tough game to win on the road. With QB protecting the rim our perimeter defenders can cheat toward shutting down 3's and allowing some drives.Last edited by Aargh; 1 week ago.The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
