Good thing we only face Tulane once this year.

        • Is the SWAC even trying to win games at this point?

The entire 12 team league is combined 20-72 but of those 20 wins, only 6 are against D1 competition. 6 wins against Lamar, Omaha, Coastal Carolina, North Dakota, Louisiana Tech & South Carolina State.

On the minus side, 2 SWAC teams, Florida A&M & Grambling only lost to Florida by 24.

Did you get a chance to watch any of that game? My goodness Tulane is down. They just didn't lose, they weren't the best team, at all. That's sad. In fairness, their roster shows 6 juniors, 2 sophomores and 7 freshmen (a few of those redshirt freshmen, but still) and not a single senior to be found.

            They did lose

            Sion James to Duke.

            Mier Panoam to North Dakota

            Collin Holloway to Samford

            Kolby King to Butler

Clearly, losing Sion James hurts a ton. He's playing 20 minutes a game for Duke.

            • The Big 10 and MVC both started league play tonight. Seems a tad early.
Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

              • It is soooo sad seeing the clear line between the minor and major leagues the last couple of years become more apparent. This NiL sucks to the 9th! The SWAC has thrown in the towel obviously. Tulane places a 20 minute guy at Duke. We've lost a couple along the way. Cold's term "ransom" the past year or so has been oh so poetic and true. My hope is that Wichita without football can still be a "sleeping giant". Perhaps the business guy back in DC will get this economy rolling again and the donors in the community will say "Why not...let's fund this b#t#h"...and play along to get (keep) ShockerNation alive and well.

                Go Shocks!!!

                  • Hard to put into words just how horrible our league is this year. Yikes!

I did not watch the game. To be frank, I have significantly less interest in the league this year with so many teams having down years. Have mostly tuned in to North Texas, Memphis, and FAU. Last year I watched a ton of AAC games since the league was pretty good.

Agreed that Tulane's roster is undoubtedly worse this season. That being said, I think Ron Hunter has run his course there.

                      • How did UTSA stay within 20 of SMC on the road, let alone take them to OT?

                        • I guess until this year I never would have expected to see East Tennessee State in a thread labelled "Games of Interest".

                          • Guess we shouldn’t be surprised the the AAC is down. Remember that the AAC was ranked 1 in players poached by high majors. Like most of the best players were gone across the board.

that kind of loss hits hard for quite a few of the AAC teams who rely on development of talent as opposed to simply buying players.

Oof, if I knew this I had forgotten that. That's extra depressing.
