Odom’s record in his seven seasons at South Carolina is 123-94, but his record in the SEC is 37-61.
He came to USC from Wake Forest, where he led the Demon Deacons to eight NCAA tournaments in 12 seasons. But he has guided the Gamecocks to only one NCAA tournament, in addition to two NIT titles.
In a sign of the fan discontent, a caller to Odom’s radio show Thursday night implored the coach to “please resign” and criticized his SEC record.
“Your point on the SEC play is taken, I don’t argue with that, we should’ve done better,” Odom said.
You don't see a coach say something like that very often. -
