Also, let's stop with the "defense ahead of our offense" crap.

Once again, Shocker fans are overreacting. One game of horrid offense and now our defense is way ahead of our offense... There is a reason why our offense was horrid in the most recent game fellas...

Shocker offense is going to be fine. We are going to score over 75 pts a game just like we did last year. We aren't going to be playing any more retard Ugly Ball teams like VCU this year. If we have a game where the ball isn't dropping for us, we are confident knowing that our team CAN lock the floor down to keep the game close.

Coach Marshall does not subscribe to Ugly Ball or anything close to the abomination you saw last night. To win Ugly Ball, you have to fight fire with fire and do it better. In this case we were bigger, faster, and more athletic. Ugly Ball doesn't require great basketball players, it only requires speed, strength, stamina, and commitment.

Coach has said the defense is ahead of the offense.....I guess he should stop too????

2 of Marshall's "moves" paid dividends last night. 1) Teaching Baker to play PG when DWill and FVV were banged up and 2) Recruiting FVV.

That gave WSU 3 guys who didn't crumble under the pressure of VCU's press and traps. The Shox didn't have that last year or the year before. The two Fr this year are probably better ball handlers than the backups we had last year or the year before. Armstead kind of yawned at VDU's D when bringing the ball up the court. Armstead > Ragland in that area of the game. I think Armstead got in their heads when he was picking them more than they were picking him.

For those of you who don't remember SIU when they were good - nobody ever looks "good" against a team that plays that type of D. UNI and UE play something similar, but nowhere near the level and efficiency of VCU's, and we've looked "bad" against those teams from time to time.

I think it's starting to look like the Shox are going to be playing in-your-face ball-stealing D and rejecting at least half of the shots near the hoop this year. There are going to be a lot of less than knowledgeable fans saying we only beat their team because their team had an off night. Intense D tends to produce bad games for the opponent. That's why coaches teach intense D.

I don't care how it looks when we win big games. I just want to win.

Coach Marshall took this photo just days before the season began. You know, before he has to shave and get all pretty for the fans. Anyway, rumor has it he could be found working into the early morning hours, in his office, strategizing how to best thwart the elusive Short Shake Shaka with such little time to prepare his minions.
