What an A1 jerk.
Listen, if you are going to pay someone to beat you, there should be consequences.
I am glad, Losses and Elections have consequences.

3 of those don't really seem surprising to me though - Bryant over Buffalo, Hofstra over Umass and Milwaukee over Duquesne. In all those games the teams winning were either similar in KenPom or way better.
Edit: San Diego is the same (I was thinking San Diego state). San Diego is 292 in KP.

* I tossed out the covid year for obvious reasons.Year Kenpom 2 NetRtg Kenpom 350 NetRtg Difference 2017 29.88 29.20 59.08 2018 29.53 27.94 57.47 2019 32.85 24.63 57.48 2021 33.87 23.01 56.88 2022 27.70 20.15 47.85 2023 27.72 17.86 45.58 2024 31.17 20.27 51.44
What this shows is ...
1) Before the transfer portal was in full effect (it was passed in 2021 so include it with years 2017-2019):
The #2 teams average a netrtg of 31.53
The #350th teams average a netrtg of -26.195
With a difference of 57.725 netrtg overall
2) After the transfer portal is opened up and kids are taking full advantage (2022 through 2024):
The #2 teams average a netrtg of 28.86
The #350th teams average a netrtg of -19.42
With a difference of 48.28 netrtg overall
That's a substantial drop in the average difference and it means the no. 2 teams in the country are getting slightly worse, but the no. 350 teams in the country are getting quite a bit better. Why? Because good players are no longer being held hostage by the top teams so there is a trickle down effect of quality players spreading throughout the league.Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!
