How large is the athletic gap between Wichita State and the rest of the league?

Not that large. Probably the most athletic in the Valley but not by much. When I compare MSU to WSU I don't see you all as Kentucky-esque.

If we are comparing your athletes to BCS conferences, well I'd say you are third best in your own state. But I will admit you (your team--not the posters here necessarily) are more athletic than half of the Big Rusty. So you have that going for ya.

What are you basing your comparison on. Have you seen WSU this year ?

Even if WSU is the 3rd best in the state (and that is questionable), all three of the programs in Kansas were ranked last year and went to the NCAA's.

You're the only twit on here making comparisons to KU and KSU. Nobody else even brought them up (see thread title).

Of course, there are always exceptions. Take Kyle Korver for example. He is a player of a singular talent. He cannot run, jump, defend, rebound, drive, etc. All he can do is put the ball in the hole from three and he does that extra well.

I admit that one's definition of "elite" may exclude Korver from consideration. By my definition, I would not include Korver. Others may feel that the mere fact Korver plays in the NBA, he should be considered elite.

In response to the original post...Are your rankings based on a per game or a total? If it is total blocks, etc...then conferences with more than 10 teams will probably always have more than us. Those 12 team leagues get an additional 60 games to accumulate data.

Those are from Ken Pomeroy's rankings. They take into account not only the amount of games played, but the pace of the games.

That is very surprising to hear. I would think the MSU fan base would be on fire about their game tonight against Philander Smith College. With all due respect to Mr. Smith I can honestly say I have never heard of this institution of higher learning. Apparently an NAIA school.
