If you go on the CLink website the tickets being sold are $12, plus a $6.05 "fee". So correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that mean that Creighton is just giving these tickets away? The $6 groupon cost of the ticket is just the "fee" going to the ticket office of their rented facility? You are spot on @Aargh:, if you act now, free tickets to Creighton basketball, just pay ticket processing fees.

Speaking of the Clink, did you all hear about the new book that Joe Ragland and Ben Smith have written about the CenturyLink Center? Their working title is: ”How to Empty the CenturyLink in 40 Minutes or Less”, Also, Coach Gregg Marshall has agreed to write the Forward to this entertaining and most informative tome.

Well hell, I think that even $18 tickets is still a pretty good deal. And that fact that they have to sandbag them down to $6?! I guess the fans need to save up their money so they can buy all the beer they can.

For every 4 Catholics, you're always sure to find a 5th.

I wonder how low their attendance can go before they run out of money? Can they still justify renting the place out if they get down to 12,000 a game? Of course that number is highly arbitrary because we don't even know what they net out per ticket. With Groupon deals, Joan of Arc Nights, and all the other promotions designed to whore out catholic saints in an attempt to put butts in seats, I bet the average ticket price sold starts to get mighty low.

Usually arenas set up agreements where they get the majority of the gate on a certain number of tickets sold and then the tenant gets the majority of the gate on tickets sold over a specific number. For example, arena gets X% of gate up to 9,000 tickets, then tenant gets X% of gate beyond that number. This gives the tenant an incentive to fill the place up so they can get the higher revenue margin on the remaining gate, and the arena doesn't mind losing out on the rest of the seats because they get the increased concessions and part of the advertising revenue.

So once BJ has enough people at the game to satisfy the arena's take, they can sell a ticket for a 1.00. Hey, a dollar is better than no dollar right? Of course when patrons see that they can receive heavily discounted tickets if they just wait, it creates a whole other set of problems. BJ at Missing Quiet Link is a house of cards. They must maintain the momentum and keep filling the place up or they end up back on campus with their #@&$'s in their hand. Or should I say in the Vatican's pocket.

Wichita State is in an enviable position as everything we produce, advertise, or sell, is ours. That is why nobody in our conference even comes close to what we spend on basketball and our other sports. Success in life has always been and always will be about equity. We have it, they don't.

Keep pimpin' those saints out to the Husker fans BJ's, keep pimpin' for all you're worth.... rofl

Nothing will ever, EVER, top Cold's Joan of Arc Night rant to the BJs. Epic doesn't even begin to describe that masterpiece.

Actually it is much more pathetic than that. $6 paid to Groupon does not put $6 in the CU coffers. I think CU would net out about $3. They are literally giving the tickets away.

There was a time, a time before cable modems. When trash-talking sports forums reigned supreme. When people believed everything they heard on the Internet. This was an age when only men were allowed to post on sports forums. And in ValleyTalk, one poster was more man then the rest. His name was CB. He was like a god walking amongst mere mortals. He had a keystroke that could make a wolverine purr and threads so fine they made Sinatra look like a hobo. In other words, C0|db|00ded was the balls.

Oh those were some great times weren't they?

There was definitely a golden era of ValleyTalk. For me, it was at some point after I stopped getting banned and before the MoValley John thread-bomb era. I remember tearing that guy JoeyEischen(?) down to his soul when he first joined VT under a different name. But he recovered, changed his name, and became a great guy over there with a sterling sense of humor. I also remember destroying that SIU guy, BigDawg, or something like that? He chilled and became a good contributor as well. Eomaha was a tasty treat (for obvious nipples.. I mean reasons). I delight in the memory of causing "Blue" to wish out loud that he could find me in a dark alley. I posted a picture of a cartoon character with a crown and claimed BJ college was the "King of One-And-Dones" immediately after what seemed like their 99th early exit from the Dance. I guess the good dentist had had enough? Rasputin was a gem. I don't think I ever caused him to crack and he never conformed. He was a worthy opponent. That Aces1982 guy was the most abused poster I have ever witnessed. And I really had nothing to do with it..

Any more memories to share? Good times... good times.. *sigh*

I wish I could have copied down some of those threads at VT. Talk about great nighttime reading. I don't think I've laughed so hard on the computer than during those times.

                      LOL.

Those are absolute CLASSICS. That was definitely the peak of internet conference message board activity. But HEY. We got a GREAT conference message board now out of it!!!!.........

I remember it took only one picture and then eomaha had disappeared and exited stage left. I remember when Rasputin totally lost it and began creating about 5 phony screen names, impersonating Shocker fans to help build up his "case". He eventually got caught and was never to be seen again. DJA tried to fill that void but he is nothing but an amateur. DawgieStyle got hit pretty hard at one time. I think he took the crown from me for being the most argumentative. Only thing is his "arguements" never made any sense and he simply rambled just to ramble. Anyone remember the classic video wsubball96 made and posted over there in Star Wars-themed music that showed all of those CU and SIU fan quotes getting roasted during WSU's run to the Top 10? That was the zingiest zing I've ever seen. Aces1982 was abused for a multitude of reasons and rightfully so. Him and ValleyChump were vying back and forth to become VT's most moronic poster and 1982 quickly took the cake when he lost a bet involving WSU and EU (I forgot exactly what it was) with Doc that was made very public to the VT community and only to then flat out deny paying up (which I believe was going to be donated to SASO). Not only did the moron not pay, but he bragged about not paying and it got to the point where even his own fanbase was calling him out as the douchiest person they've ever encountered.

Definitely the mid-2000's was where my greatest memories came from for message board posting. It's a shame all of that went away about as quickly as it heated up.

Yes, I think I remember your video.

DawgieStyle! HOLY @#$@#$@ I forgot about that clown. I didn't mess with him much because he was such low hanging fruit. I felt like I was beating up a guy in a wheel chair. The same goes for 1982. I forgot about 'Spew melting down and making a bunch of screen names. What caused him to do that again? I think 1982 bet Doc that Eville would finish higher in the standings than us.

Damn man.. I'm starting to get really sentimental. :crushed:

That's why we have to try and fix MVCFans. Be patient, I think that site will come around. And it is so ripe with tools considering how it's been run it will be like jumping into a vat of fresh grapes. There will be wine for everyone!
