Also, perhaps a very hot take, but our offense looked better with Cortes running the offense. There was more movement and less iso-ball.

Back in the day before interwebs as we know it I had heard the coaches talking about a player, James Bunch, who was stuffing stat sheets for fun in Minneapolis.
I was listening to a former high-level high school player in Wichita lament the state of the program and I said,” yeah but what about this new guy, James Bunch? He is going to light it up for us.” This guy laughed and said his sources had told him that the league he played in was like intramurals levell against kids basically playing for fun. Lo and behold he averaged 5 minutes and 1 point a game.
It can always get worse.
Thankfully we haven’t had any criminality. So far.

Things like boxing out. That's something you can have an out of shape 50 year old do, and yet we can't seem to figure it out. That's 100% coaching.
We are being told that we "need to have patience." "Good things take time."
Apparently, Wichita State fans need to have more patience than other programs with first-year head coaches like Charlotte, South Florida, Temple, and North Texas, because we just got swept by all of them.
Look at that list. The only team with any cache on that list is Temple, and that was a long time ago. Wichita State had the backing and the resources to rise above that list and get a coach that doesn't need time, but we ****ed it. What an absolute joke. The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

They don't/can't box out for rebounds, again, that's something you learn early and it's just a habit, our guys don't know how to do it.
The last part about boxing out? No that's a coaching issue. If they don't box out, they get pulled. As we saw yesterday, our most dominant rebounder barely saw the floor. That is 100% a coaching issue when you are getting destroyed on the boards.

Question: What's the benefits to Beverly over Ridgnal and DeGray. He's one of 3 players getting 30+ mpg and the average minutes drop to 23 and down from there? Seems like he makes bad plays fairly regular in the last 1-2 minutes of a game. Also, he's the worst 3pt % of the 8 players who shoot them, and he seems to in the lineup in the closing minute when we may need a 3. Also, Ridgnal is a better rebounder and Degray is just as good.

Don't get me wrong I like QB alot but he is NOT a dominate rebounder by any stretch. He commands the immediate area he occupys but too often doesn't occupy the right spots to rebound effectively. What I like about him the most is his mind set of not trying to do more offensively than he is capable of which has resulted in such a high shooting %. It's too bad the other players don't look for him more but that is mostly coaching.

The 90's were tough to watch with Scott Thompson. He was nice guy, but a really bad coach.
Mike Cohen ws embarrassing, but fortunately only a short while.
Randy and some of the bullsht he pulled was really bad. But he had internal demons prodding him.
But today...well today felt a lot like those nightmares of yesteryear.
We have some players that continue to do some of the dumbest **** on a basketball court, over and over and over.
The coaches sit down with these guys first thing after the season ends on the second Wednesday in March. (and it will end that day).
Book it.
I hope they have a come to Jesus meeting with some and be very honest and forthcoming.
There are a few I hope are back, but it is very minimal.
HCPM gets a pass from me for this season, although he doesn't for todays debacle.
He was hired late, had nothing to pick from the leftovers in the portal and was handed a shitshow by his predecessor.
But he has a whole year to recruit, hit the portal and even the JuCo's to come up with better talent currently on board.
He better not be sitting in the toilet of the AAC come this time next year.
That is all.
I have also let you talk me off the cliff on coaching this year and I thought I saw improvement, but I expect next year to be a dumpster fire. I would love to be wrong and eat a slow roasted crow. Certainly a coach can only do so much and John Wooden himself could coach me 8 hours a day and after a year of coaching I would get laughed off the court. BUT, a good coach can get the best out of the players he has. I don’t see our players controlling the controllables and that is on coaching. Either he has given up on the players or they have given up on him. If his only chance to win is overwhelming talent we are well and truly ****ed because this league has some good players.
Now I’ll add one more. Graham Hatch walks into this starting lineup.Wichita State, home of the All-Americans.
