The Wichita State Shockers lose all five starters from last year’s team which won 27 games and earned a five seed in the NCAA Tournament. While there is plenty of turnover on the roster, Greg Marshall’s team should still be in the mix of the Missouri Valley Conference race.

I can't begrudge any writers who pick us in this range. Losing all five starters from our second NCAA tournament team in nearly a quarter century leaves this year's squad with a lot to prove to uninformed outsiders. If anything, it speaks volumes for the rising reputation of the program that we get mentions in the 50-75 range after losing all that Class of 2012 talent.

With that said....I'll happily take bets against anyone who believes our RPI won't finish in the top 50 this season. We're finally back in reload mode (not rebuild) for the first time since at least the 80s.
