Marshall's salary is $1.5 million

Maybe I missed this if it was discussed earlier.

With the announcements of Bill Self's new deal, the Topeka paper had a chart of various other coaches salaries and it listed Marshall at $1.5 million.

That is certainly not a mid-major compensation package.

If he was here after two more years (starting with this year), I would be surprised. According to that chart, Marshall makes more than several of the BCS coaches who made the ncaa tournament and only about $250,000 less than Roy Williams at NC.

1.5 mil is why he is still here. Only 22 jobs pay better than he gets here. Throw in a good cost of living and that number probably shrinks some more. It will take on heck of a program or an issue with the MVC to get him to leave. He is recruiting like he is staying. Could not say that about Turgeon or Fogler.

VanVleet met with derision -- is that why he has a thread called "Fred VanVleet a Shocker Star" with over 100 entries, many of them actually even about him (not always a given on here)? Sounds like someone is operating in an alternate reality.

I worry about you...

People have been wondering if and when he would leave ever since we started winning. He's had several offers from decently big name schools every year for the last few years. He might leave someday but I don't think we can put a real time frame on it. It's just his decision to make and based on his own comments plus the recruiting situation, I think he is staying for the near future. I kind of doubt it will only be two more years unless we win two conference titles and make noise in the NCAA tourney and he gets weird big offers.
