Perhaps during pre-game warmups, they actually practice layups that they might have to do during a game…as opposed to Sports Center highlight reel dunks that they’ll have about a one in a ka-zillion chance of ever needing to do.

Then again, I guess I’m a bit old school.

They don't get NIL for doing layups though. Need that Sportscenter highlight.

Tonight's game is both the best and worst game to have at this point in the season. On the positive side, by the numbers it's our most winnable game all year. We SHOULD win. On the negative side, winning doesn't really prove anything. They are 283 in Kenpom. The only team lower this year that we played was Coastal Carolina. If we lose this would be the worst loss, by the numbers, by WSU in a very long time.

I'm not sure practicing uncontested layups during warmups when they are fresh is going to help them finish full speed, contested layups during the game when they are tired.

Point taken. However, I’d take most any warm up shot vs. a shot one would never ever do no matter what the level of tiredness I would be. Muscle memory…just like practicing free throws.

How is it possible for a new coach to get an early start on recruiting, outside of an assistant being promoted.

I agree. The collective BBIQ of this team would be pretty good for an individual player. Not quite at Fred's or Ron's level but still pretty good.
