  • Mills complaining about the FT difference. He's right, but the lead was lost, and the game was lost, right after halftime. The FT difference came later in the half.

    • When asked if the struggles on Wednesday could be pinpointed by a lack of energy coming out of halftime, WSU head coach Paul Mills rejected the idea.

“Our guys are energetic and they’re dialed in,” Mills said. “I wouldn’t blame the players at all.”
So, if we can't blame the players, I guess that leaves...

A coach can't throw his players under the bus...at least until the transfer portal opens.

        • Maybe instead of going to the locker room at half, HCPM could have a scrimmage between 1st 5 and second 5. Winners start the second half

However, Ballard's Offense Rating last night was _off the charts_ at 205!

The offense was TWICE as effective over 100 possessions when Ballard was on the court as Pohto. Even though Pohto scores more than Ballard, it comes at the expense of other players being effective.

Know who had the second highest rating? Ridgnal at 123. That's excellent!

They got a total 17 minutes and 16 minutes respectively out of a 40 minute game.

FWIW -- the entire team had bad Defense Ratings last night.
I guess Mills is right; you can't blame the players especially when the best ones are on the bench.

            • I will say that Ronnie DeGray has made some nice cuts to the basket the past couple of games.

And I lost count of how many times Ballard was wide open on the pick and roll and the guard didn't appear to even glance his direction. I noticed at least once, that was partly due to the defender being up in Rogers' grill, and maybe that is how Tulsa was trying to stop it. But I just don't think Rogers or Bell even consider the lob to be an option, since it takes the ball out of their hands.

When he was made eligible, I told my broker to load me up on Cortes stock; at 8:00 pm last night I told him to dump it all. Like all of us, I so much want the kid to be successful here, but you’re right about the crazy-ass passes. Between him and Bell last night, I nearly lost what remaining marbles I have. As my wife would tell you, there ain’t many left.

We don't have anyone capable of making the pass.

                        • He’s been watching too many James Harden tapes, but I agree, Mills should send these tapes into the league office and put an end to that BS

1000% agree. At minimum, send the message.

However, 0% chance of that happening.
