I can remember that Keith Jackson would refer to the SMU football team as the "Ponies". Chevrolet was the big corporate sponsor of college football back in the 60-70's.

i watched a lot of that north texas-smu game. it really reminded me of wichita state-uni games from a decade ago. even mark adams referenced wichita state teams from a decade ago. smu is aggressive and hustles back hard on defense.. transition defense.

Even bigger than the on court talent gap (does SMU have any all-conference performers?), more importantly, is the chasm between the 2 teams in hustle, effort, smarts, teamwork, team D, passing, pace, intensity, and, talent on the sideline (where it counts the most).

I think our defense is good enough to keep us from getting blown out by a decent, not great team, like SMU. Lack of offense and overall BBIQ is what will keep us from actually beating decent opponents. We won games early because there was no scout on us. Now, we are super easy to scout, which is why guys like Rogers and Bell are sucking balllzzzzzz.
