  • 2012 Official St. Louis Visitors Guide

My guide was about ten years old, so I called the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission and requested a new guide. The phone number is 800-916-0092. There is not a charge for the guide.

A few days ago, I received the new guide. I am most delighted with it. It contains an exhaustive listing of attractions and some very excellent maps. Also, the mailing included a separate guide for family attractions.

I particularly like the maps portion because the maps are printed on heavy paper and it a separate pull-out part of the mailing. It is very handy for your navigator.

Good or bad, I already made my reservations at the Lumiere? It's the UNI hotel and is a little further away but has an indoor pool for the kids and a casino for the adults?

I have stayed at the Westin and really enjoyed it but there is no pool and it's really not close to night life / attractions. Not to mention the $380 per room price tag for a room that wouldn't accomodate my family. I have also stayed at the Sheraton and enjoyed just walking across the street to the arena. However, in recent years, we have tailgated across the street from the area so staying across the street is no big deal now anyway.

If anyone has any insight on the Lumiere please let me know. I have read some unflattering reviews on the web and am a little nervous about my decision.

I've stayed at Lumiere and was satisfied.

Its a casino, so you have the normal pluses and minuses that accompany such a thing.

It is located right next to the train, which you can take back and forth to the arena so you don't have to worry about the longer distance at all. It also right next to Laclede's Landing which is chock full of bars and restaurants.

Honestly, if you are looking to stay at the place that is closest to the most things to do, I'd say the Lumiere is probably your best option. I had no idea though that it was the UNI hotel. Luckily, since UNI has hardly any fans willing to travel, it probably won't be a problem for you.

I don't know if this is the same as what you got, but here is the online version.

Yup, it is the same sans maps and family attractions guide.

I would hate to print all of those pages. It would be a nightmare for me - graphics and loading.

I rather make a phone call.

The advantage of the online version is that you can click on all the links.
