Seems to me that we are guarding with our arms up at an 83-84 degree angle. If we can reach a bit higher, straighter up if you will, say an 89 or 90 degree angle, It should make all the difference.

Have we drawn a charge all season? I'm sure we have...but it can't be many.

I'm going to go with no. Maybe we've gotten a ball-handler to push off and get an offensive foul, but I'd be shocked if we've drawn a true charge call. I'm can't even recall someone trying to step in and draw a charge. They mostly just get our of the way or weakly foul the guy while playing shitty defense.

Mo Udeze was elite at drawing charges. I miss Mo.

I love this! That dude drove me nuts with his unwillingness to kick out to his guards. But yeah, I would take him back in a second.

I don't know if he'd be worth having yet another black hole on offense.

You can't ascribe any meaning at all to Cortes' first few games. Having to sit and then come in mid season, it was obvious he was trying way too hard to make an impact without getting his D1 game speed legs underneath him first. He has averaged 2 turnovers every game since his first three games. There's just too few games to really make sense of him quite yet.

But there's no denying with meaningful minutes against the two best teams in the league, he had 8 assists on 4 turnovers. So he _can_ stay under control and dish the ball against really, really good teams. We know that at least.

it is strange that Cortes had seemingly such a short leash last game but no one else seems to

For all the clownin' around I do about how bad we are, the truth is I still love watching the Shockers even when we suck. My kid has played for some really good teams and really bad teams, and I love every bit of it regardless. It's how I feel about the Shox right now. It's my alma mater and no matter our W/L record, I just keep holding out hope for improvement. I'll laugh, I'll cry, I'll cringe, I'll whatever. But it would be a kick in the pants if things suddenly clicked and we could show well in the conference tournament -- even if just to screw up some conference foe's chances at an NCAA birth.

                        As far as tonight?

Well tonight we WILL be drinking such sweet nectar from the coveted but slightly dusty Chalice of Victory!!

                        LET'S GO SHOX!!

A lot of you have been really brutal on our coach. He needs to have a chance to bring in his own players and get this turned around. He said that this year would be a struggle on an earlier coach’s show. I am disappointed in our losing streak but this team can still figure it out and win some games. I still think he will be successful at WSU. I’m looking forward to seeing our new guards next year.
