I lost my best friend yesterday. His name is Dave Campbell. WSU graduate. He started following Shocker Sports in the 1960’s like me. We attended the MVC tournament many times together and also went to out of state games and holiday tournaments. We have had season tickets together for many years. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in mid October and died yesterday afternoon. My heart is broken.

The lyrics of our Alma Mater, in my opinion, make for a fine ave to say for those of the black and gold that have passed. Condolences to you and all that knew Dave.
Our Alma Mater Wichita,
Stands Proudly on the hill.
Our sons and daughters bow to thee,
Our hearts with praise we fill.
Then, hail! Our Alma Mater!
Hail, Thee, grand and true,
Long wave the Yellow and the Black,
O Wichita, Here’s to you!Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

Years ago, I had the opportunity to meet Tommy Lasorda and told him that my grandfather was a big Dodgers fan. “Your grandfather must been a great man if he loved the Dodgers.”
Dave Campbell must have been a great man too.

May you take comfort that you and your best buddy shared so many good times, and probably some not so good, for 60 years. That was a real blessing for both of you. May he rest in peace.Last edited by 1972Shocker; January 11, 2024, 03:46 PM.
