I hope IB finds success at his next stop and WSU can get some buyout money back.

I don't believe the athletic department gets any relief if IB gets another job. I believe his buyout is guaranteed regardless of any income he might get anywhere else.

I thought that was the case for GM but not IB, but could be wrong. Wouldn't be surprised if Boatright fumbled that item as well.

And you believe that? This is shockernet where people make up rumors for sport.

I verified with Taylor, there IS a mitigation clause in HCIB's termination agreement. So any payments he gets from another job offset anything we owe him.

Looks like you already got the answer. But here's a link to Eldridge's article at the time - https://amp.kansas.com/sports/colleg...273028110.html - and in it he writes:

"If Brown, who turns 54 in May and has more than two decades of Division 1 coaching experience, is hired as a coach before April 2026, WSU’s payments would be reduced by the amount he is paid monthly in his new job."
Not responsible for damage from posts that sail over the reader's head.

                            • QB Russell Wilson, cut by the Broncos, signed with the Steelers. He had a similar clause with the Broncos, signed basically for the league minimum. Don't expect much help.

So, as a wage negotiating tool in his interview, IB tells the AD at Monroe something like this. 'Mr/Ms AD person as a show of my own belief in my ability to make this BBall program a success, lets say you pay me 50K a year the first two years of my contract. This will enable the athletic department to have the dollars to build a NIL collective we can recruit and retain players through. After year two, based on my success, we will negotiate a pay package between XXXk and XXXk per year plus incentives."
