Ballard could start tomorrow for UK. I don’t expect him to be back next year.

This is the exact mindset why I will never buy season tickets again or put a penny towards NIL. I gave up my season tickets right before Saal was hired (my family season tickets were in play since 1965). I wasn’t supporting what was happening with this program with Boatwrong in charge. He butchered the post Marshall fiasco. I believe NIL and the portal are ruining college sports the way it is managed today. Why would I support financially the NIL when there is no proven track record of players being loyal. First off I don’t buy that Ballard is going anywhere after this year. If he does it just reinforces my case for putting my discretionary funds elsewhere. I will still be a loyal fan…watch, attend or listen to every game cheering and sometimes jeering my Shockers!!!

I guess this is the best place to put this. I watched the UK Arkansas game last night and noticed that UK runs the same offensive scheme that Mills is trying to run. Once I saw that, I watched to see how players reacted when plays broke down, spacing was off, and how often they drove to the basket without setting it up.


Bell is doing exactly what he is supposed to within the offense, he just isn’t good at it.
UK runs the offense about 3x as fast, players know where they are supposed to go in the motion, and when spacing breaks down, players will push the out of position player out of their space.
there is some standing and watching but most of that is when a player is in iso and working on a defender. The players watching are waiting expectantly, not just standing around.

Yep. It's not the scheme that is the problem. As players are recruited who can fit the system and do what is needed, improvement will be seen. Unfortunately, the roster had to be filled in a hurry last year.

The days of four year players at WSU and many programs, is probably over. Either a player is awesome and we lose in a bidding war, or they are mediocre and we want them to move on.

I think Armchair could do well if they had messaging that read like this:

Looking for a way to support WSU student athletes? The average NIL package is XXX dollars, with XX number of athletes being supported. Show your appreciation for their dedication and hard work through our different ambassador programs. 95 percent of all funds collected go to student athletes, the remaining 5 percent going to administrative costs.

Bronze Ambassador: XX dollars/month - includes ticket to have one piece item signed by student athlete (see list of eligible athletes) (eligible for additional sessions, every 12 months)
Silver Ambassador: XX dollars/month - includes everything in bronze package + WuShock coffee club invitation
Gold Ambassador: XX dollars/month - includes everything in prior packages + lunch with team event

This is where I'm at. I fully expect the NCAA to soon allow unlimited transfers and it will be rare to see a player don the Shocker jersey for more than two seasons. It's possible we may see a hometown player stay more than two, or a player will low expectations who gradually improves enough to be valued by the coaching staff, but not so much they attract too much attention from the P? teams.

As someone who totally paid my way through college, while getting married, and starting my family, and eating canned soup and crackers, I’m not impressed by a little crying over not being able to afford going out to eat whenever I want to. I still paid off all of my thousands of dollars of loans. I’m not impressed with his hardships.

Mills was able to hold a roster together at ORU, and those guys had to sign a letter promising not to pet the puppy. Maybe it won’t be as bad as we think.
