Player movement is TOTALLY different now. Student athletes of our past were not only learning in the classroom, but also about realities of dealing with coaches (just like future superiors).

I'm not saying it is like what I'm about to state for all student athletes. However, they are becoming "paid entertainers". We're not even sure NCAA is treating all schools alike when it comes to the actual "educational" part. Student athletes can compete with each other to find the biggest bang for getting that buck now, if they have any doubt they can play professionally anywhere. "Hey, I can take those classes at a lot of schools. How much can I get for playing here?"

Yes, I'm being a little cynical and, hopefully, over the top.
Cut our losses….sink all of our NIL money in Women’s Soccer, become a national powerhouse and quit fighting a losing battle with a sport that has zero boundaries.

    Right Kung?

WSU has/had a men's soccer club a couple of years ago. I was one of a few that graduated in the early 90's and we beat them handily.
If I remember correctly Jose Ocampo was our keeper.
The extent of my soccer career at WSU was just winning an intramural championship. So even soccer isnt keeping up.

I think he'd yank those guys and give them the business IF he thought the guys on the bench could be out there long enough to take the beating without us getting in a massive hole. Unfortunately, I take his lack of doing this as a sign that those guys are awful, and that if we want to stay competitive, we need to keep our core 7/8 guys out there.
This 1000%. Mills isn’t a very good actor. He knows the hand he was dealt. Last day of this season is probably circled and highlighted on his desk.

            • I've been thinking the same all along. Unless he has an unknown injury Joy must actually not be very good if he can't see the court with our PG's and lack of defense from the two guard. I also think chemistry was better playing the original seven guys and said as much day one of adding two new guys.

                    • South Florida hired Amir Abdur-Rahim (5-1 in conference, 12-5 overall) over a week after WSU hired Paul Mills.

But USF has a lot of history and tradition and is much easier to recruit to than WSU ...

And yet...that much better than us (record wise) and they are only 20 spots higher or so than us on Kenpom.

Sometimes its a product of your schedule.

I honestly feel that gauntlet we had was just too much for a 1st year coach and team. Probably killed any confidence they had. Now just putting more and more pressure on themselves and overthinking. Or just giving up. All of which would not equal wins.

I am not saying a weaker schedule would fix the problems with the system. It absolutely wouldn't. We would be talking about fools gold.

But on the flip side, too tough of a schedule can break a team. Especially one who wasn't all that strong to begin with. Winning is always better than losing. Especially for a 1st year coach and team.

I was thinking the same thing. If we had played these last two games before the 6 we lost before them, I think we would have won both of them.

Kind of apples and oranges to compare these two. Paul Mills brother is not the president of the NBA G league.

edit: that’s not to say that the overall premise is wrong just that if this is an apples to apples comparison, then one of them has been heavily modified with GMO‘s.
