Cudos to the guys for staying positive and encouraging each other. Really. That's not easy. And what's this "negativity swirling around social media" business? Ha!

But I am concerned that there are mentions of giving their best effort. I don't want to bash these guys, but if they have been giving their best effort we are hosed.

Buuuut. Nevermind. I was gonna say we are a sleeping giant, but the landscape has changed so much, I don't think even that's true anymore. Get us in a top-half conference like the Big Priest and we will be back to sleeping giant status.

Top half conference = all the power conferences plus the PEE and neutered B12. The AAC is currently the king of the dipshits, and that's only because Memphis is still with us. Once Memphis leaves (maybe 2 years tops), we'll be scheduling home-and-home's with the Valley.

We have 12-24 months to pour an obscene amount of money into our basketball program AND have incredible success on the court (especially in the Dance). Our only hope is that WE can lift this conference in some way shape or form convincing Memphis to stay and maybe even someone like Gonzaga (and others) to schedule us every year in some kind of side agreement. Our ONLY way forward (towards regaining national status) is a virtual "top half" conference agreement. We must be recruiting at the level of a "top half" conference or we have no hope.

I suppose a schedule that included teams like Louisville (263), Notre Dame (172), West Virginia (175), Georgetown (213), Cal (180), and UCLA (174) would be better than Florida Atlantic (26), North Texas (69), Charlotte (104), Colorado State (19), Utah State (25), and Grand Canyon (37).

That's correct! We are on the same page now.

If we could create a yearly virtual conference with the named schools you mentioned, AND do well... our program would immediately be on the move back up. And guess what? We'd be on a LOT of televisions and smart devices. We'd be playing against 5-star recruits with future 4/5-star recruits watching.

Big-time recruits want to play against big-time recruits on a national stage. Put a home-n-home schedule together with the names you mentioned, and the recruits start landing. When the Jimmies and the Joes start calling ICT their home, our stock will rise. Mills could be Jesus Christ with a clipboard and all that's gonna get you with slugs on the bench, is a random Cinderella run replete with backhanded compliments from the media. Kind of like NIU and Faroookmanish. Then Mills bounces for NC State.

Back to our regularly scheduled MoneyBall program of trying to game our way into a 12 seed by playing FAUk, Grand Canyon State Casino University, and Northern Texas Galleria Mall (a Simon property).

Of course we lose to all those plucky wannabees with their mid-major swagger. How do you think they got their current ranking? Rolling around on the floor and skinning their knees. Smaller sample size...sure. But given what he did at OU as well, I don't feel we can expect this to really get any better.

I am not on the Bell bandwagon at all. But at least he scores a little.

End of the day we still need what we have needed all year. A viable PG.

There are just so many weaknesses plus lack of talent.
However, there is no excuse for effort and what really urinates me off is for some reason, a number of players on this team will take 2 or 3 plays off every game!
They are in no way even close enough in talent to take play off or two.
