  • "Renzo is very epic"

This is a good example of why Wikipedia sucks!

"Hank Iba decided he wouldn't play my team anymore. He told me that if he tried to get his team ready to play me, it would upset his team the rest of the season." Gene Johnson, WU Basketball coach, 1928-1933.

Someone on March 26, 2012, with the account name of Epicness24, changed "Wheatshockers" to "Renzo is very epic" in the History section. Look at some of the revision history. It hasn't been corrected yet.

Also, on March 22, 2012, someone with an IP address of 209.79.68.235 edited the History section and changed
      "...head coach Willis Bates."
      to
"...head coach Renzo Aquino. He lead the collage team into victory like every single time."

IP address 209.79.68.235 is located in Lakewood, CA.

Edit: Oh, and if you do a Google search on "Renzo is very epic", you get around 6 hits. One is from the Wikipedia article. The others refer to the Wikipedia article.

You seriously don't know how Wikipedia works?

I've gone to the linked article and I've not seen any evidence of "Renzo". I've found references to the actual coach and the name Wheatshockers in the section that contains the actual coach reported to be replaced by "Renzo".

Any way, if your Wijipedia site gets "altered", it generally just means that more people read it to see the joke. If the alteration brought more people to the WSU entry in Wikipedia and they recognized the joke - maybe they stuck around to read more about the Shox.

If "Renzo is very epic" would happen to go viral, then WSU would get huge numbers of people that had never heard of WSU reading their Wiki entry and those people would learn about WSU. I think that would be a good thing. If no one hears about it, then it doesn't matter. The way I look at it, it can have an outstanding outcome for WSU, or it could have no effect.

It has been edited back, although it does not in fact read "Wheatshockers" but rather "Wheatschockers".

It was most likely corrected by someone who reads ShockerNet, but who ended up misspelling "Wheatshockers". What's the odds of "Renzo is very epic" being discussed on ShockerNet and all of a sudden it gets corrected if it wasn't by a frequent reader of ShockerNet.

Look for "Wheatschockers" to be corrected shortly since it was mentioned on here.

It said something about there was something in dispute and not to edit anything until something or another was resolved. Don't remember exactly. I understand that just about anybody (or maybe everybody) can edit things but that they're often times corrected quickly. Is that just corrected by other users or people within Wikipedia? That I don't know as I've never cared enough about the process.
