Watched some of their game vs Piedmont. It's tough to evaluate vs lesser competition but there are some takeaways.

Pretty sure Cliff Ellis is past his prime and this looks like a team that could be a bit overcoached. Meaning they are being given too much complicated coaching and they are having trouble to adapt to everything thrown at them. Hard to tell if it will get better or not.

They have some athletes, particularly at "this level". They've also got some tanks although I think they are a bit liberal with some of the height listings especially.

Inside they'll start with John Ojiako a grad student who has been at Virginia Tech and George Mason. He might not be 6'10" but he's damned sure 245 and it's all choice. He'll be with senior big Kevin Easley who is at his 4th school in 6 years. FOY at UT-Chat in the SoCon. Transferred to TCU where he redshirted then started about 1/2 the games. Transferred to Duquesne where he started 26 games in 2 seasons 10 and 6 but was suspended for violating team rules for at least 7 games. Both are hosses.

They also have a freshman guard who was headed to St John's after a big high school career where he scored about 3200 points. He was recruited over and ended up at Coastal. Kid can ball.

There are other decent pieces too. They do NOT match up poorly with us, but I'm hopeful we're just better and better coached. They didn't play strong D and they seemed slightly undisciplined but they have parts.

Mike said the freshman guard averaged like 36 and 37 points per game his last two high school seasons.
