I agree that there is only so much time for team practice and defensive practice involves more than just one guy on his own shooting. Putting in extra time on their craft involves getting to the gym and putting it in the hole which is/can be a solo effort. So I would assume that team practice would be more defense centric.

This was probably IB's thinking. No need to practice team offense, just go practice your shot boys.

By my estimation this team is likely worse on paper (ignoring possible player development and coaching impact). I don't think the roster is bad per se, I just believe that a lot needs to go right for this team to have a shot at postseason play. There are many, many question marks.

          WSU 2022-23 Roster

PG - Porter Jr., Scott, Flanagan (WO)

          SG - Pierre, Bell

          SF - Walton, Ricks

          PF - Rojas, Okafor, Abidde

          C - Pohto, Poor-Bear Chandler (WO), Ballard

          WSU 2023-24 Roster

          PG - Cortes, Ighovodja

          SG - Rogers, Bell

          SF - Beverly, Ricks

PF - Pohto, DeGray III (pending waiver), Abidde

          C - Germany, Ballard

This is the way I see the comparisons to last Season.

PG. Porter has the obvious edge

SG. Rogers, Bell over Pierre, Bell

SF. Walton was good but I give Beverly / D. Ridgnal , Ricks get the collective edge

PF/C I see an easy edge to this Seasons group of players even without DeGray.

I'm guessing this Season's squad will win around 3 more games overall than last Season.

            You missed one aspect

            2022-2023 coach - IB
            2023-2024 coach - Milla

Throw in the extra practices and the 3 extra games with a coach who is analytical and coaches to players' strengths and you may have understated the improvement in the number of wins.

I'm looking for a breakout year from Pohto. I don't know if that will be that he rediscovers his outside shot or if he develops an aggressive streak, but I think he's going to be significantly improved. If he rediscovers his outside shot AND develops an aggressive streak, he could be a beast.

Rignald seems to be solid and Beverly too. Rogers seems to be able to shoot from distance the way we were told. Bell has a chance to be significantly improved.

If Pohto can defend AAC 4's, then Pohto and Germany will play together.

If the games in Greece are an indicator, then Ighovodja is better than we could have expected based n his background.

Borderline NIT team is about where I will optimistically predict this year's version of the Show. Retain the core of players or do good out of the portal and next year is NCAA tourney bound.

            Yeah, I'm optimistic.

I really think Rignald could be good. Idk why, but watching him in those Greece videos, he just stood out.

But anyone who can't start at Missouri State... Idk. Just boggled me.

I’m sure some Arkansas fans said the same thing about RCIV

My brother gave me a micrometer that he never used, I use it all the time. It works great for me.

Not sure this has been posted to ShockerNet yet. HCPM short 5 segment on Sports Sunday this past Sunday:

Paul Mills joins Tejay Cleland in the KWCH studio to discuss the team's recent trip to Greece for his first looks as head coach and more.

One quote stood out to me. PM said a player commented "these are the hardest practices I have ever been involved in". PM said I thought we were taking it pretty easy on them.

If a returning player said that, well ... it definitely explains a few things and confirms what many suspected.
