Omaha? r u fing kidding me? how in the H can that town be considered a location that the MVC can set up shop and have the tourney at? That would A) be bush league to have it in a city one of the schools is in B) way beyond unfair.

Not only the city...but on the home court!

Only Elgin would think thats a good idea. Hopefully he is only floating that out there to use as leverage. Because really inside the Valley footprint there is KC and STL. Maybe by throwing in Omaha it helps him negotiate with STL. I pray that is the only reason he has talked with and mentioned Omaha.

Maybe Elgin is trying to keep them in the fold long term.

I can't believe it's taken this long. The MVC has one of the best attended tournaments in the country. If I were Elgin I would be promoting this to all major cities in the geographic footprint and get a little competition going. St. Louis doesn't give two flips about our tournament and its about time he looked outside that bubble.

Paul Suellentrop made a number of solid points on Twitter today about why the MVC won't leave STL.

Because the MVC and Elgin have no balls? Was that one of them?

I wouldn't worry about the tournament ending up in Omaha, it won't. The article is a discussion on St Louis not investing in sports. Moreover, it was dealing with the Rams and the Dome. In reality, if it isn't the Cardinals, St Louis doesn't give a crap and that attitude is having an impact on the possibility of St Louis losing the Rams. The writer was simply using the Valley negaotiations as an example of how little the city invests and cares about major sporting events. Kansas City and Omaha both do a fantastic job in attracting and supporting these type of events, so they are included in the write up. And I while think it would be a great opportunity for Kansas City to steal the league offices and tournament from St. Louis, Omaha isn't even in the picture. Omaha is just being used as negotiating leverage. Wichita, Des Moines, Indy, Chicago and even more cities need to be included in the negotiations to drive the value of the Valley up. If the pressure of six to eight cities bidding on the Valley doesn't get St Louis to actually care and step up, then it's time to leave.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

It could very well be. But one that I hadn't thought of is how WSU/CU fans might go about buying tickets differently. Will some of us wait to see if our team makes it to the semis or finals before buying tickets? We'll be close enough to do that. And the eastern team's fans aren't likely to make up the difference.

I'd still like to see it in KC.

Legit concern, but I believe that both fan bases have such a rabid fanbase that many will still buy all session passes and stay in KC. You may have a slightly lower Thursday turnout, but I think there would be an increase in ticket sales out of both Omaha and Wichita to make up the difference of the lesser teams poor fan bases that wouldn't make the trip. And we'd finally get to see how dedicated Bradley and Illinois State fans are as they're not just simple drive away on any given day.

KC would be nice just because the trip would be a shorter drive but I ALWAYS look forward to going to St.Louis, over the last 5 years I've found a few places I love to go and i would hate to give that up since I dont get a whole lot of other time to get out of town. I really hope that the MVC doesnt leave and I don't think they actually will.

I don't think they actually will either. I simply hate STL. I don't enjoy the city or the downtown area as there's little to nothing going on. The only reasons I'd ever go to STL are for the tournameny, which I'm increasingly less likely to do, or to maybe see the Royals play the Cards.

I know some on here enjoy the city. I'm not one and most I know personally are in the same boat.
