Conner Frankamp scored 18 points and Shaquille Morris had 11 points and 11 rebounds and Wichita State put a beat down on Illinois State in an 86-45 win on Saturday night as the Shockers drew even atop the Missouri Valley Conference standing. Wichita State led 35-22 at halftime and used a 19-2 run to start the second half pushing the lead to 30 points in less than six minutes. Wichita State (21-4, 11-1) shot 8 for 9 from the floor during that span.

Fred VanVleet then stepped up at a critical time for the Shockers. VanVleet made two free throws with 4.6 seconds left, and No. 16 Wichita State held on for a 62-59 win at slumping Bradley. "At one point, you think the game is over," Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall said. "Then it's not over. That's to their credit." The Shockers went without a field goal for the final 12 1/2 minutes in their first game since Saturday's 70-54 loss at Northern Iowa. After VanVleet's clutch foul shots, Evan Wessel stole Bradley's ensuing inbounds pass near midcourt. Toure Murry added 14 points and Carl Hall had 13 off the bench for the Shockers (20-4, 11-2), who improved to 18-2 in their past 20 games. Wichita State tied No. 13 Creighton, which lost at the buzzer to Northern Iowa earlier Saturday. Wichita State took the lead for good on two Hall free throws with 12:15 to play. But the Sycamores stayed within single digits the rest of the way, pulling within 66-62 on an Odum 3-pointer with 45 seconds left. The Shockers made five free throws after that to secure the win.
